Java console

Very impressed with K-Meleon so far, it has quickly become my main browser. Thanks for the hard work!

One query though. When going to some sites with Java applets, I get a Java console window popping up sometimes. Is this meant to happen, and if so is there a setting somewhere to automatically hide the window?

My set-up:
Win98
Mozilla 0.9.4 installed
K-Meleon 0.5 installed
JRE v1.3.1 installed

By the way, this is what appears in the pop-up window:

Java(TM) Plug-in: Version 1.3.1
Using JRE version 1.3.1 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM
User home directory = C:\WINDOWS

Proxy Configuration: Browser Proxy Configuration

----------------------------------------------------
c: clear console window
f: finalize objects on finalization queue
g: garbage collect
h: display this help message
l: dump classloader list
m: print memory usage
q: hide console
s: dump system properties
t: dump thread list
x: clear classloader cache
0-5: set trace level to <n>
----------------------------------------------------

David,

This is the console for the JRE. You can disable that so that it doesn't pop up. Go into Settings - Control Panel - Java Plug-in. Open that up and under the Basic tab, you'll see a box labeled "Show Java Console". Uncheck it and click the "x" to close. The next time K-Meleon fires up Java, the console should not appear.

Glad to hear that you K-Meleon is your browser of choice!

D'oh, I really should have worked that out myself :-)

Sorted now, cheers.
