no copying/pasting text of linked url

there is no option it seems in the right mouse button menu for it
When a text is linked and you select the text for copying, the only option given is "copy link url":s
There are workarounds but all time consuming (i have never had a browser who couldnt do that and i've tried them all since i.e. 3.0 and netscape)

Actually if you made it like mirc : (partial) selected text is automaticly copied to the clipboard
Would be imho even better then the right-click menu option "copy"
I know it can be done with ctrl-v and ctrl-c
still..

Hm yes, you're right! Never noticed this since I always use Ctrl+C anyway, but I agree, there sure should be a copy function in the context menu of selected text, whether it's a link or not. So personally I think too it should be there out-of-the-box, but no idea how to get a dev to consider or even read this.

But what I love about KM is that you can customize just about everything, and all sorts of configs are just plain text files smiling smiley

So if you want to add that menu entry manually, you can click Edit > Configuration > menus, which opens the menus.cfg in your profile folder. Then insert there this:

!LinkCopy{
&Copy=ID_EDIT_COPY
}

If you want to insert it ABOVE Copy-URL, append that position at the end of the above command:
&Copy=ID_EDIT_COPY|ID_COPY_LINK_LOCATION

Tutorial:
http://freenet-homepage.de/CoolMcKluus/software/kmeleon/project/reference/cfgfiles/menus.html

To figure out the correct menu and command names, search in the menus.cfg in the defaults-settings-folder, and/or look here: http://two.xthost.info/kmeleon/lizard/commands.html

And for additional macro commands look into their kmm-files :cool:

There's also an optional macro somewhere that automatically copies selected text into the clipboard, as you suggest, IIRC it requires autoit-scripts, but IMHO I'd rather keep clipboard and selected text separate, in case the "old" clipboard stuff is needed for something else yet.
And speaking of macros, there are also special favorites macros out there that can automatically copy the Link-Text into the suggested name field, if you right-click a link and choose "Add" (even without selecting any text before). But of course this is only for people who use "Favorites" at all.

Once the linked text is selected, instead of right-clicking the link, right-click the area next to it and you'll see the proper context menu. It's a known bug.

I've been bothered by this too zani_woob, but I've always done like jsnj said.

The problem is that I fail to remember to right-click outside the link about once every six tries, then must click again. So... thank you Siria, for the menu customization! So easy to fix. Dunno why I didn't think of it myself. :drool:

And, I have to wonder why I never saw this great link before:

siria,

thanks so much for the "Copy" function fix ... this is the one thing that has driven me crazy since I started using K-Meleon late last year. In the last 2 weeks I just discovered (by accident) that you could copy a link for text by just going a little more to the right or left ... but what you supplied was what I was looking for. I like the 2nd fix with the added "location". thanks, now "my" K-Meleon is perfect until ... ! (some new problem comes along, but someone here at this forum always comes through!)

It isn't a bug, is a feature (mixed behaviour?) tongue sticking out smiley

It's DEFINITELY a bug. I guess it's a limitation that hasn't yet been solved. The other major browsers have a specific context menu for selected/highlighted links. Until it's fixed, might as well put a "Selected Text" submenu in the link context menu like back in the v0.9 days smiling smiley

Ok, if you regard this is a bug or a lost feature, you must open a bug report to add this option in link context menu.
