I would like to suggest that whoever maintains the website should at least put a news item on the home page with a brief status of the next version (perhaps a link to a more detailed page, explaining that there are still critical bugs keeping the next version from coming out). Otherwise, when someone sees the last news item from October 2001, they'll leave with the impression the project is dead.
