both icons
Well, actually this second icon contains white rectangle so it's not a usable old good icon

Ah no, you're right :-((
On the desktop it works, it's big.
But if it's used in the taskbar, it suddenly looks completely different, the very same icon. Pity, but oh well, one can always replace it with the icon from the classic skin, just not as obvious for new users.

K-Meleon itself is just not as obvious for new users

Thanks for the help. I found that I could use the icon from setdefault.exe and it was the same as the old icon. It has no white background.
Is not the support here great. Thank again.

In the
Bug Traker ("Bugs" in left side menu).
But before than you report a bug in 1.6alpha version, please you should post the problem in the Bug forum to check it's a real bug or a not updated feature to new Gecko 1.9.1.x.

@JamesD
Dittos on the "OLD icons." Maybe it is just my old and tired eyes but these new icons, i.e. Go, Search and Throbber are difficult to notice quickly when I need them. However, this is by no means a deal breaker.
BTW, these new builds are being developed so fast I can hardly keep up. The developers must be working full-time on KM. I wish I knew how to use the "Profile Backup Tool" but for some reason when I read about and try using it I seem to get lost in the particulars.:s But in some cases it is easy to just copy some folders/files from older (i.e. 1.5) versions to new versions (I hope I am not messing anything up by doing this.:s)

There are icons for 16x16 and 32x32 pixels in the exe, that is why they are different. The fishy has 16x16,32x32,24x24,48x48, and 64x64. You can see them with an Exe resource viewer like Resource Hacker. Windows uses the one that match.
I like more that puff dragon more.

It' also the same for 1.5.x and 1.1.x.
You don't see it before, because you used the default icon.

Edit > Browsing > Finding Websites > URL Bar tab settings are cleared
after leaving the URL Bar tab or closing Preferences. Also, no search engines on Finding Websites Tabs.
1.6a3 has no Loader.exe but previous Loader.exe’s works fine so just copied it to 1.6a3.
It seems that when the computer is a started/restarted 1.6a3 switches to "Work Offline". Recently cached pages seem to load fine but new pages will not load. Toggling "Work Offline" to ON THEN OFF temporarily fixes the problem. AFAIK I am the only User of 1.6a3 who is experiencing this problem. If it is just me can some one please tell me how I might have caused the problem and how I might fix it?
BTW, just as with a2, I am amazed by the speed of a3.

I have had the same problem with Firefox under Linux. I added a pref, but for now I don't remember which.
I'll try to retrieve the pref, ans I think it ought to work.

Charlie, I see the problems you noted about search engines. I found that my default engine is not in the list under TOOLS - WEB SEARCH. I set up my KM new installs with a macro. These lines are a part of the macro.
setpref( STRING, "kmeleon.general.searchEngine", "http://search.yahoo.com/bin/search?p="
setpref( STRING, "kmeleon.general.searchEngineName", "Yahoo! Search");
This is what shows under TOOLS - WEB SEARCH.

When I click on the search button, I do get Yahoo search.

Thanks Guy's. I just looked in my Tools > Web Search and I have the same as
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1522294/Default_S_engine.jpg And I guess that's all I really need, anyway.
The problem is just in the Prefernces.
Pease; out.

What I meant to show is that although Yahoo is my search engine, it is not in the list that is shown from TOOL - WEB SEARCH. It should be there and have a check mark to note that it is my default engine. Only Google, Bing, and Wikipedia are show.

@JamesD
I think maybe I got confused and posted some references to user agent strings that was probably removed. Or perhaps I didn't even manage to post it. Sorry bout that. When it comes to coding I'm about 95% “cut n' paste†and 5% “hunt n' peckâ€:s. I found several KM files, I10n.js, search.xml and others that seem to relate to search engines but I wasn't brave enough to play around with them. So, I guess I'd better just wait for the dev's to work out the search options, etc.
BTW, I noticed that Tools > Privacy > Policies Manager hasn't been worked out either. I think it was disrupted who created this for us
. I hope this one get fixed soon, too, not that I’m trying to rush anyone.

@ JamesD:
The problem with Search engines is the chrome XUL pannel in Preferences (F2) -> Browsing -> Finding Websites. This tabs are nor working, not load any search engine in search.xml file.

0.0x% is still a huge number of ppl.
This statistic decline is partially coming from pages that exclude ppl with win98.
Not only browsers are excluded. K-Meleon's spoofs also provide wrong OS info!
That's right!
I am "responsible" for setup of few dozens or so K-Meleons on my friend's machines.
None of them identifies itself as K-M
AMong them there are 2 Win98 machines. Both say in UA that they are Win2003...
Go to msfn.org - the second most active group (after Win 7) is the Win98 forum.
LOL, actually the only browser that I have set User Agent to identify itself as K-Meleon, is my Windows Mobile phone's Pocket IE, hahaha  (it really helps browsing better than setting it as i.e. iphone's browser)

I don't know if this is a feature or a bug, but I consider it a feature: holding the mouse button down on an empty space of the toolbar lets you move the KM window.

It's a new feature. And I guess there will be a new pref to enable/disable this feature. The new version also supports the non-title window feature like in KM CCF ME, the dragging feature for the tab bar is an accompanying feature for this.

Yep, I too hope strongly this is not the final version yet...
For now we must look very closely at it: If it's more grayish, that is supposed to be the open one, and if it's a little bit more yellowish, that means closed.
To see both, right-click on the icon that starts KM, click properties and change symbol:

I agree. That lock picture should have the differences be very obvious.

Just noticed that KM 154 does not have any lock icon in the exe...
KM seems to be using a system default icon there? It certainly looks the same like in old IE.

For sure it has. You overlooked it or the programm you use doesn't show it.

To see both, right-click on the icon that starts KM, click properties and change symbol:
Thank you. I now see how the color is
supposed to change. Still the problem troubles me. All though the URL bar fills with yellow when I am at a secure page, I hope the dev's will give this top priority. Meanwhile, I wonder if it would be easy for me to change to a lock from a previous KM version.
Speaking of changing icons, I tried to copy the old "Reload" icon from 1.5.2's Skins > Phoenity to 1.6.3's Skins > Klassic but for some reason it did not work. Coping 1.5.2’s “Throbber†to 1.6.3 did work. I guess perhaps Phoenity and Klassic “Reload†icons don't like each other.
Actually I prefer the Phoenity skin but Klassic seems to give me a little more screen real estate.

I think they are of a different size. I know Klassic is 16x16 but I think Phoenity may be bigger.

Thanks for the screenshot, interesting... In 1.5x I really only see a blank white space where those lock icons are visible in the 1.6-exe. That's using win98 OS, right-clicking on a link -> properties -> change symbol.

What prevents k-meleon.exe completely from starting again (in 98se at least), is when the tabs are set to the bottom, unless the tab-window-buttons are fixed to it.
Update: dorian posted in the bugtracker this will be fixed in 1.6a4:

Don't use the pref panel. You have to leave the old pref on false, and use the new position pref.
And on the KM16 page:
Quote
kmeleon.tabs.bottom replaced by kmeleon.tabs.position, which can take the following value:
band (default), vtop, top, bottom.
I just tried them:
band = tabs on top, fully transparent with skin background
top = gray background, tabs on top (below other toolbars)
vtop = gray background, tabs on very top (at screen border)
bottom = gray background, tabs on bottom (no bug if old pref on 'false', no need to attach icons)
