I'm not sure if that's what this feature is called, but I would like to disable the automatic finding of keystrings typed into the browser with no form focused.

eg if I am browsing a page of text and I accidentally type a few characters, it automatically zooms to it.

How do I turn this off?

However, the find bar also searches automatically. Is there a way to make it wait till you press enter?

For the first: Edit -> Page Search -> Find as you type
For the second: I think this isn't possible.

"Find bar"...? Don't have that in KM, but if you happen to mean the URL bar, which can also be used for searching, there are some settings available here:
F2 > Finding websites

By the way, if searching something specific one can also try finding it in the "about:config" page. Most of those settings are also accessible in the Preferences menus, but not all, and it's just the quickest way to find something

Jer is refering to the "Find bar": Edit -> Find in Page (Ctrl+F)
and not to "Search bar", that you can found it like a kplugin.
