I have no idea about the first one, but about
the software patents site:
That is simply bad page design. Bad in the sense that it is
disregarding even the most basic features of accessibility for folks
with less-than-perfect eyesight. They should put up a sign near the top saying:
"This page is best to be viewed on a resolution of 1440 x 900,
with the minimum font size set to 8 points. Be sure that your
grade of visual impairment is 0 % or less".
Penang, you can test this by removing your "minimum font size" in
F2 -> Page Display -> Fonts, then zoom out until everything fits. I, for one,
am hardly able to read it, then. And it's the same for IE and Firefox - when
everything arranges well, it's too small to for me to read.
That is on a 1024 x 768, 21" (!) CRT.
