Whenever I use Club Penguin or an online game that uses flash, the backspace doesn't work. I push it and it automatically directs me to the previous page, it's just like I pushed the back button in the browser.

It is no bug but standard behaviour.

You can overrule the keyboard setting via Edit/Configuartion/Accelerators (that loads the user defined accel file).

You can use defaults/settings/accel.cfg for reference ( do not edit there! It is the default = standard settings file )

So how exactly do i change the backspace key back to performing a backspace instead of a backpage

I do not play games that need another non standard keyboard layout.
& I only know some things exactly when I tried them myself.

AFAIK this is the key You want to alter via user defined accel.cfg:

VK_BACK = ID_NAV_BACK

I'd try VK_BACK = VK_BACK

or VK_BACK =

Else disable it via (comment line out) "#" in the master file.


And You check what each solution exactly does. Best greetings to East Anglia.

Hmmm, further problem.

While the correction worked on my Pc which has Windows XP

It failed to work on the laptop running Vista

Any suggestions

Make sure that You have writing access at the place where the profile/file is located.

Grant explicitly writing rights: Right Click on file/folder & Change Properties/owner.

Sometimes Vista (also Win7) does not automatically give user rights.


p.s. I do not use Vista but this was answered to similar problems.

It seems to have accepted the change to the accelerators page and i could not find the writing rights to which you referred

Accelerators page now reads :

Accepted the change means that I was wrong and this was not the reason.
You had rights. No idea what to try except what I already posted.

Cancel the Vista problem, i forgot to restart the K-Meleon before testing it.
