Wow, I am running the latest Flash 10.1.164 or whatever in BOTH KM1.6 and KM1.5....so far no probs. I was one of the people who could never get 10.0 to work no matter what I did, it would install, KM would find it, but never render anything. Kernel Ex has come a long way !!!. The latest Flash AX is also working for me.:O

Muss man KernelX installieren, damit K-Meleon 1.6 läuft.
Benutzt Sachen, die win98 nicht hat. Muss man nachrüsten oder den Fehler unterdrücken.

hab mir mal verschiedene kerneldingens runtergeladen...

4.0 final 1
4.0 final 2
4.5 beta 1
4.5 beta 2

Gehe nach about:config.

als Wert gib an: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.16) Gecko/2006101023 Firefox/3.5.16

Pleased to report that I finally got KM1.6 to work on my
W98SE machine. The trick was choosing the right
compatibility mode in Kernelex 4.5. Though I couldn't find a
straight-forward explanation on how to do that in the KM forums, it
turns out that following the compatibility instructions for Opera 11.1
does the trick.

In Windows Explorer, Right click on K-meleon.exe.

In the drop-down menu, click on Properties

Click on the KernelEx tab

In the drop-down menu, click on Windows NT 4.0 SP6

Thanks.

Perhaps this might help. I had a similar problem with menu icons that looked wrong (black background) when I changed to Opera 10.5 (IIRC) and I fixed it by installing a DLL. I've since forgotten the details but could find out.

WAAH - YES, please do!! That might well be that little missing puzzle piece that allows for partial opacity in 98SE, or that fixes my messy favicons on some sites...

PS: My KernelEx compatibility on 98SE is set to XP SP2, has always worked fine smiling smiley

It would be interesting to know whether this dll was Common Controls Version 6?

Reason: K-Meleon skins with alpha transparency rely on a function from this dll version. & PPL on some systems do not have it or/and can not use it. So the new default skin looks odd. Thx for reading my post & in advance for the answer.

greetings

"To elaborate on the black squares in the menus behind the icons I just fixed this by downloading and placing MSIMG32.DLL in my Opera directory. Up until now I'd been one of those 98 users who just checked the ignore error thing. After having read an old post about it which provided an alternative to screwing up my system with ME files (that is to place the DLL in the OPERA dir so that only Opera uses it) I decided to try it."

I copied and pasted that from my post at the Opera Forums. It's jogged my memory. The trick was to get a Windows ME version of that DLL and place it in the Opera dir as it says. You could also put it in your systems dir if you dare. I didn't and was happy to learn that Windows has a PATH (MS-DOS concept) like system for finding DLL's.

Hmm, I would have attached the file but I see no option. Oh well. It wasn't hard to locate.

Hope it helps.

P.S. I'll have to try Kernelex eventually I suspect. smiling smiley
