Crash on download links
Date: January 17, 2011 03:16PM
Sometimes I hit a download link that crashes K-M, and have to use Firefox to get the file. No idea what makes K-M freak out. I'm going to start keeping track of the events. Latest one was
http://www.binaryfortress.com/HashTools/#download "download without installer" link.
The session restore feature is pretty awesome in these cases. Every time K-M is blown away I get every tab back, even in separate windows.

Just tried that link. No prob, everything works fine.
KM 1.6 beta-2 with "all shields up" (javascript blocked etc.)
Unless it's some script, perhaps some download extension is crashing?

What KM version, are you using some particular extension or macro?
What Windows version and if you are using some firewall, antivirus or antispyware?
I don't have problems to download it in KM 1.5.4, KM 1.6b2 and KM 1.7a2

Vista x64 with Emerge Desktop, dual-core, K-M 1.6b2
Just crashed trying to DL VMWare Player.
Last time I tried both with with and without a download manager (Star Downloader) enabled, same thing. I have javascript enabled except in rare instances, never when trying to DL. Most sites are OK, just the few odd ones kill it.
It isn't related to the history file size issue that causes other problems foe me. I'm trying to find some common factor. *Sigh*

I'm glad I'm not completely alone here
The vmware link is a problem because you have to be logged in.
The most recent crash was triggered by
http://www.thewindowsclub.com/downloads/UWT.zip -- looks simple and innocent, but K-M crashed. Firefox just downloads the download page. Opera gets the file.

Matera,
Downloaded that file from there with no problems.

System diffs, I guess. :-(
Crash of the day:
http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds -- download portable link. Resuming session and merely going to that tab crashed it again. *Sigh* This is about as random as it gets, because I've
never crashed there before!
