The new flash comes with a control panel app that replaces the older global control panel that appeared on a webpage as a flash app itself. I have not been able to get the new control panel app to function in W98 under kernelX. But I have found a workaround:
- when you attempt to access global settings, you will get a popup that includes the name of the control panel app - search for this on your system.
- rename the app to something else.
- Now when you click "global settings" in a flash object, it just refers you to the older flash-based control panel, which still works.
If anyone knows how to get the new control panel to work in W98, please post here.

I am getting messages from some sites that I need flash player 9 or better in order to view something. This is one such site:
http://biertijd.com/mediaplayer/?itemid=2763
Per help about plugins, I have NPSWF32.dll Shockwave Flash 10.3 r181.
I think I also have a copy of NPSWF32.dll from this thread in my plugins folder.
Is there something else that I need to check or do for this to work?

@ Matt
Yes, that is it. I usually surf with JS off in Policy Manager. I flipped it on and could see the show. The message from the site is incomplete or wrong.
Thanks

Wrong, wrong... well, it's a long story, but, as nowadays it's considered better to use javascript and the damn SWFObject to create embedded objects depending on the browser..., for some is not wrong.
I find easier create a
<object> <---- read only by IE and Opera
<param>
<param>
<embed></embed> <---- read only by Gecko browsers, Opera, Safari
</object>
than call a SWFObject javascript function and wait to see what happens on client browser...
But, yes, the <noscript></noscript> message wasn't clear enough.
EDIT: I have to admit, too, that I'm browsing without javascript in the last months and is very pleasant.

re: Flash Control panel
I don't remember but I think I tried every option and couldn't get it to run. If someone else succeeds, please post the solution.

Under Windows 2000 it doesn't get installed, but hopefully, it is still available via web.

I found the link in a forum. It is not supposed to be
the usual way for users , but is mainly for administrators,
who have to update a number of computers at the same time.
There also used to be an xpi file, which was a simple zip,
which could be extracted to get the dll plugin, but
this seems not to be not supported anymore.

Did you miss the hardware acceleration with the latest version? I did :-?
At least with YouTube, the hardware acceleration is not enabled anymore at full screen, under Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
Do you have the same problem?
It's funny. They enabled accelerated 3D with this version, and I missed all

For the last two updates to Flash, I have had to go to Softpedia to obtain the update. I cannot seem to download from Adobe. I have tried Javascript on, user agent to FF 3.5, and turning off my Avast antivirus. Is there something I am missing about downloading from Adobe?

You only need javascript enabled to set options for the next page, otherwise the menus can't be selected:
