Hmm, forgot it because in the past an older FF agent used to give "old browser" warnings on youtube, unlike the native KM1.6 agent - or so I thought. Perhaps I remembered that wrong, or perhaps youtube actually removed that warning now?? At any rate it doesn't show, with neither KM nor old FF name.

No, you were right.

If unknown, HTML5, if known, Flash :/

Now, even K-meleon 74 doesn't give a warning as old browser... when was a few months back...

The idea from Google is to drive us crazy.

IDK, Why all of a sudden instead of fixing FLASH plugin by removing all the possibilities to store data and execute code remotely, they would just remove these pointless features and release ONE final version of FLASH, that's as secure as the vlc plugin or PDF reader plugin?

idk, on my windows, their installer never worked anyways on my computer (thanks to my customized security settings and application permission)

They want you to install their dumb antivirus in the pack, "for your safety! and why not that toolbar from our advertisers?" so tbh, i'm heavily relying on this thread for updating the npswf32.dll

anyways, here we go with non-free software. they could have allowed the developement of an alternative flash player, just like there's many FOSS and open source pdf reading software. Flash is fun to work with, for animation, and a lot of things, it's by incorporating a lot of useless "features" that caused its vulnerability.

Don't worry, from Mozilla signed the day of its death, starting to block it when a vulnerable version hasn't fixes:

http://www.theverge.com/2015/7/14/8957177/mozilla-blocks-flash-as-facebook-security-chief-calls-for-its-death

We have to admit that the last release was to fix a lot of bugs, but banning Flash isn't either the solution.

If I could, I'd make of flash what it was in the beginning, an animations player, instead a video player, where its performances is near to 0.

Also in the article they mix things such as say that YouTube switched to HTML5 to get ride of Flash, when actually it was more a way to embrace HTML5 video tag and the support of Chrome browser to some internal video codecs.

Late, with this week and a half SourceForge downtime but:

I hope you updated anyway with the installer because this had quite a few bugs fixed too.

Nope, I didn't. I would never use the installer. I would rather do without Flash.
Actually that's what I've done. Watched HTML5 if possible.

BTW, thanks for the update. smiling smiley

using this portable plugin as it's really less resource-hungry than current nonESR-build of Flash and also the flash is more lightweight than html5 when playing Youtube

Thanks again JohnHell and everyone ... I used a "flash uninstaller" first to get the old flash version off my computer and then I installed this new v18 ESR flash.

I wasn't sure if that was necessary but it couldn't hurt I guess ... since the change went from v13 to v18.

Just for the record, Adobe has its own uninstaller, just in case you used some custom, not official uninstaller:

Yes, I keep the Adobe flash uninstaller and the Shockwave uninstaller on file. I should have mentioned that ... I did not know there were "other" uninstallers out there.

I use the Flash IE ESR version for IE 8 and your version for KM and Pale Moon. I don't use the Adobe flash uninstaller very often ... I thought I should this time, get everything off and start fresh.

Thanks for posting the link ... others may need it.
