hi.

wanted to scan the computer online from the viruses with Symantic. the browser said that it needs to have Explorer 5.0 or higher to install ActiveX.

So K-meleon wasnt eligible to handle thisk task.

Can you tell me why, and may i enable this feature in the future.

K-Meleon can use active-x - check in Forum history for posts on the subject.
At the moment there is no package or installer for 1.0 and it is not included
by default. I assume that only the more experinaced users can install it.
Some of Hao´s 1.0 issues at blogspot have it included.

0.9.12 and 0.9.13 have it out of the box - it is set to whitelisting by default.

You have two possibilities.
Either try to use especially for this purpose the older
K-Meleon version 0.9.13 , downloading its zip-version
and unzip it into a fresh, additional folder, and enable
the ActiveX function in Tools/Privacy/Permissions.
You can have different unzipped K-Meleon versions
on your computer, but only use one or the other at
the same time. Nevertheless it is not sure, if the
online virus scanner works with the Active X plugin
in the default, comparatively safe setting.
All online scanners demand basically Internet Explorer.
I would rather propose to install a free virus scanner
as for example AntiVir, which is small, effective
and offers frequent online updates.
Download at :
http://www.free-av.com/
The online scanners may also demand the download
of Active X Controls of considerable size.
