At the top appears K-Meleon. Does that mean that K-Meleon hosts it?

I understand that K-Meleon has a popup blocker/stopper.
I got the annoying FreebiesJeebies popup again.
How can I set K-Meleon to stop it?????

You can try to stop it with the Popups blocker builtin to the Privacy Toolbar. Others may have other ways to deal with it. Hope this helps.

Look in View/Toolbars and click on the Privacy Bar there. Reboot KM and click on the popups little icon to enable it.

I see no popups visiting freebiesjeebies.org. Make sure to enable popup blocking F8.

I have no idea either what this is about, have never any ads on this site here. Am using the build-in adblock and popup blocker (both in menu Tools>Privacy or in Priv Toolbar)
If that doesn't help, could it possibly be that the internet provider is inserting it?? Or perhaps Noscript is installed and inserting it? :cool:

Sorry, I meant restart after setting up Privacy Bar the first time.

Still no :cool: The privbar needs no setting up, since it exists by default. It's just hidden by default, but hiding and unhiding toolbars need no restarts ;-)

I got the FreebiesJeebies again today.
My ISP is ATT and my antivirus is ESET SMART SECURITY
and it is up to date.
My wife is running XP Pro with the same ISP and antivirus.
She is not getting the popup. Possibly because she is running internet
explorer. I am not saying this is caused by K-Melion.

it could be something like an advertising cookie or worse. I would start to think about running some additional malware software, just to be on the safe side. Malwarebytes, either free (you have to run it) or Pro (interactive) would be a good place to start.

I use FileHippo as a good place to download, but of course, going to the malwarebytes website is also recommended. FileHipp I like because it always lists the latest and greatest along with earlier versions when that is the way to go.

Others may come up with better ideas than i on this.

is perfect.

Then you are probably clear.... Malwarebytes, in my experience, is a nice addition to a good anti-virus program, as it works differently and catches other stuff.
I run the pro version interactively, along with Avast 6 and an older firewall (Outpost 2009 free).

Still think there is something there, but don't know enough to help you here.

It definitely has to do with advertising, and it's certainly not K-Meleon's fault. That freebiesjeebies.org site is a pesthole, IMHO. It wants you to be a sheep in its herd of affiliate cash animals. In other words, there's nothing there that's really free. It's a kind of legal pyramid scheme. You pay with your privacy, and that of anyone you sell to them. Clean out all cookies and every kind of cache anywhere. And beware of loud, colorful, happy-happy get-stuff-free sites!

Uploading an image to the K-Meleon site is way to comlicated for me.
I feel that K-Meleon is letting this crap through somehow.
I am not to savvy on the settings in K-Meleon.
I have Java disabled but if I try to disable Javascript my home
page fails.
God forbid that I should have to go back to IE9 or worse Firefox.

I must confess, FreebiesJeebies is a very peculiar site!

It doesn't set cookies -- but YouTube does.

I don't have any privacy settings, but I don't see any pop-ups, and I can't see anything in the HTML which could generate or call a pop-up. (I lied. I do use eDexter to make my hosts file civilised -- and faster.) I even explicitly allowed FreebiesJeebies to use pop-ups! (Tools>Privacy>Permissions>Popups.)

The Error Console showed me one js Critical Error:

Error: Permission denied for http://www.youtube.com to call method Location.toString
 on http://www.freebiesjeebies.org.

Please: the next time you get a pop-up, could you tell us what it's about?

I also have this same question posted on the Windows 7
forum: under security\ FreebieJeebies. That sight has
a JPG image of the popup.
Guess this is what you were refering to but not sure.

Lovely. Aahhh... It helps to include a URL in the text to let us get there quickly. Never mind, I've downloaded the jpg, and uploaded it to my repository here.

OK. It seems it's not on the freebiesjeebies.org site. I can see a URL for freestuffworld.com, which seems to be a "junk" site. I visited it, but could not bring up anything on FreebiesJeebies.

I would take advice from others here, and set up your privacy options. Having said that, some pop-ups can slip through. When you see it again, right click anywhere in it, and choose Page Properties>Cache Information, then copy the URL from the very top. Paste this into your hosts file and reboot KM.

Microsoft Support has instructions how to do this. Bright Hub tells you what the hosts file is, and how to use it.

Once it's in your hosts file, it will never come back!

Got another one today and tried to follow your instructions.
I was not allowed to post in the Hosts file.
I am the administrator and still no go.
The address in Windows 7 Pro is different than what you stated.
Windows\system32\drivers\etc

The goodies on the popup have changed slightly for what it's worth.

I didn't. Microsoft and Brighthub did.

Do you have a 64-bit machine? Look in Brighthub for the correct address. And if you do have a 64-bit machine, it's always worth telling us, because things work differently on those.

I am running the 32 bit version of Windows 7 Pro.
The host file is: Windows\system32\drivers\etc

I will try Hostsexpert as Hostsman seems vague.
Not that I won't have trouble with Hostsexpert.
But it seems more friendly than Hostsman.

That's how it appears in the host file.
No # sign in front and no IP address. Have no idea where to get
the Ip address.

Lovely! And that explains why www.freestuffworld.com didn't look like your image! :s

Now, to make the hosts (it really is the plural, 'cos it lists all the host IPs!) work for you, that is to make freestaffworld never come back, we have to tell your browser to look inside the computer. There is a special IP for this, 127.0.0.1, which is called localhost.

So, first you enter 127.0.0.1, then a couple of spaces or a tab, then the domain name freestaffworld.com. Save the hosts file, and reboot the browser.

Ah yes. The hosts file does not have an extension. It is just Windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts.

Ummm... Do you have any need to visit Freestaffworld? 'Cos after you've done this, you can't.

I was blessed again with another popup.
Here is what's in my HOSTS file by Hostsexpert:

The 2nd entry starts 9 positions to the right.
Doesn't show in this message correctly.

AS you can see they are playing games by changing
one letter or capitalizing a letter.
I'll have about 50 entries before they give up!

Got another today 9-5-2011 This time no capitals -

This one is interesting and very annoying.

My virus program, ESET SS, is set for a two way stop of incoming and
outgoing garbage. Here is the messgage it produced when I signed
on this morning:

So did my additions to the HOSTS file have any effect?
