I have a shortcut that needs to opended with IE
K-Meleon is now the default browser. How can I change
to make K-Meleon not open this shortcut?

Use extension "Open in IE" by alain avialable @ Jujuland. That should do it.

Navigate to C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer and send a shortcut to iexplore.exe on your desktop. Right-click this shortcut and choose Properties. Append the URL/file to open to the path in the Target box, so that it looks somewhat like this:

"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" "Your URL"

Each browser can only set itself as the default browser. Obviously, you already know how to set K-Meleon as the default browser. When you want to set a different browser as the default browser, you have to look for the appropriate option in that browser's preferences.
