today I updated the new java release, 6.27, all the browsers work except K meleon, do you have any idea to solve the problem?

Reason: the solution most likely works with update 27 as well.

Is there a site that I can use that will indicate if my installation of Java is working? Oracle/Java site does verify that I have update 26. Does that verification mean that it is working?

The Oracle/Java testing website is the best. After all, they are the ones that actually produce Java. The testing website is:

That update 21 was when the problem was first encountered.

The procedure is still the same for subsequent updates. Either copy the needed plugin (npoji610.dll) to K-Meleon plugins so that it gets precedence over the faulty java-plugin (npjp2.dll) that only knows recent Firefox versions or You delete the later plugin at ./program files/Java/jre6/bin/new_plugin/...

You'll find npoji610.dll at

./program files/Java/jre6/bin

and copy it to

./program files/K-Meleon/plugins

Looks at the default install place for Java in Your language.
so /program files/ can be a localized string like Programme in German.

That is why "FAQ" said that the solution was most likely the same.

problem solved! thanks for your help! The procedure is as follow:

I copied npoji610.dll and npjpi160_27 ( where 27 is the last java update )
from C-Progr-java-java6-bin TO C-Progr-KM-plugins

go to java link to tested! IT WORKS!!!!!
