I want to hide these menu options/icons

The groups functionality is provided by a macro. If you don't want to use groups, you can simply disable the groups macro. This will also remove the Groups menu. Open Edit > Advanced Preferences and then select the category Macro Extension. Disable the groups macro there.


To remove the File menu open Edit > Configuration > Menus and add these lines:

!Main{
-&File
}


For the buttons open Edit > Configuration > Toolbars and comment out the buttons you don't want i.e. put a hash mark (#) at the beginning of all these buttons' lines.


You have to restart km to make all these changes take effect.
