I have uploaded to Rapidshare a new updated unofficial no-Xul version :
K-Meleon-NX-18117 .
This is a simplified version of K-Meleon 1.x ,
usable in Linux together with wine , or also in Windows,
updated to Mozilla 1.8.1.17 using Gecko/20080829,
from Seamonkey 1.1.12.
Look and feel are similar to the earlier 0.9 versions.
The NX No-chrome concept is used here. Thanks to Hao Jiang and Dorian.
The browser is very fast, because Xul is not used.
Note :
This version works only if you have the files msvcp71.dll
and msvcr71.dll in your system or in your K-Meleon folder.
If you want to use Internet Explorer Favorites, mfc71.dll
would also be necessary.
If you need these dll's, look for them in the internet .
If necessary in Linux, copy the files manually to the K-Meleon main folder.
Note : Flashblock, Aggreg8 and other extensions are not included in this
no-chrome version. No autocomplete as it causes problems in Linux.
Ad-blocking by userContent.css and hostperm.1 .
Many useful search engines have been added.
The profiles folder will be created inside the K-Meleon main folder by default.
If, when in Linux, you want this folder inside the wine configuration directory
because of property rights problems, rename the file profile.ini
inside the K-Meleon main folder to for example profile.ini-renamed
before the first start.
A javascript button has been included. After changing permissions
for javascript, reload the page.
History must be deleted manually.

Maybe u could release some fully functional windows release other than wine only version, including autocompletion and other browser essentials

I mean NX version , nothing with XUL

To have autocomplete, you can download my 1.02 updated version,
rename or delete K-Meleon.exe in the NX version, and replace it by
K-Meleon.exe from the 1.02 version.
This should now also work with newer wine versions in Linux, making
autocomplete available in Linux too, and I think I could even
use this K-Meleon.exe when making the next update 1.8.1.18 ,
which I avoided to do up to now to allow it to be used by users
of older wine versions.
For the rest it is clear, that extensions are not possible
and to have certain similar functions would need Haos lua
structure, and the same is the case for automatic history cleaning
when the browser is closed.

Last week I found this mod in the forum then i started to use it. But unfortunately it always crashs.Delete the profile fold doesnt work. but if i delete the whole fold and then unzip the origin zip file, i get a fine answer. Strange bug--!
Then i just attrite the compreg.dat in the components fold into readonly and it works.
I cannt understand it.
i work in win vista sp1, area is China and codepage is 936(GB2312)

This version should work in Vista, if your user rights are
correct. If in doubt, try for once to browse as administrator,
but browse later again as a simple user as a rule.

Possibly your download resulted in a corrupted zip-file.
Try to download again and unzip into a fresh folder.
This version works even in Linux with wine, which is more
difficult to achieve, than in a Windows system. Check if msvcp71.dll
and msvcr71.dll are in your system, they usually should exist
in Vista.

An existing profile.ini inside the K-Meleon main folder creates
a profile inside this K-Meleon main folder.
Renaming profile.ini to something else uses an existing or creates
a new profile inside your user name folder in "Documents...etc".
Backup this folder from an existing official version first, before
creating a new one for this unofficial version.

i have also installed the official edition(1.1.6).but i changed nothing in your zipped file and there are in a fresh fold.I think it doesnt matter bucause profile.ini is there and everything is what they should be.
a funny thing here. in the day i installed your mod there was nothing wrong, but next day i found a crashed k-meleon-NX.i have changed your default interface(only hide the menu and throbber), but when it crashes i find the interface returns to what its origin is, and then system tells me that k-meleon gets a problem and have to quit.
first i thought profile is destroyed, so i delete it but it doesnt work. then i delete the whole fold and unzip your file and it works. i think maybe other things be wrong and i check the attributes of all the other files in the folder. i finds that only 3 files are changed.Then i replaces them with the origin files you gived one by one. finally i find that only the compreg.dat makes things wrong. i try to check the compreg.dat into readonly and i hope there will be nothing wrong.

does your mod support the greasify or something like that?

The Grease-Meleon extension contains a .kmm macro file
which would be installed into the macros folder
of K-Meleon 1.1.x versions.
As this NX version has no macros folder, the .kmm
file can not be used as it is.
