i found this one.. but it isn't working as expected:
http://homepage.mac.com/sroy/jaree/

i prefer something not built on java or .net (i prefer delphi)

I use 7zip in combination to Pspad as external editor.

i was hoping for something to edit and manipulate the files inside jars without having to extract them first.. i'm very lazy i know. the one i found does that until you try to save the file then the whole thing crashes. there're plenty of those jar editors for linux and mac but so far i'ven't been able to find a decent 'stand-alone' one for windows.. sad smiley

i found this one which seems to be very good but only works as a plugin through eclipse
http://jar-plug.sourceforge.net/

EDIT: gotcha! i didn't know i can edit files using 7z and saving them without extracting.. that's exactly what i wanted. thanks! smiling smiley

AFAIREmemeber You can manipulate via windows open... while open. I had altered some setting - to facilitate chrome work only reacll that it worked.

However the file manipulated or the jar must be not in use by K-Meleon at the point when You re-save the altered jar/or inside file sad smiley Else You have unexpected error.

You can modify files in jar without having to extract it, but

-as guenter says : chrome must not to be in use (K-Meleon must be closed)
-you must use 7-zip to open jar file, and choose the contextual menu 'Edit' and not 'Open' (set you default editor before, to avoid having Notepad' open you file).
-when you want to save, 'quit' PsPad without saving.
-Save when Pspad ask it before quitting
-Now, 7-Zip ask you if you want to update the jar file.

This is the only way, I have found not to have problems.

A+
