Testing Adblock Plus 1.0 Release Candidate
Posted by: WladimirPalant

I just uploaded Adblock Plus 1.0 Release Candidate for K-Meleon: http://adblockplus.org/development-builds/adblock-plus-10-release-candidate-now-for-k-meleon. All following development builds will be uploaded both as XPI and as a K-Meleon package immediately. I hope some people will try it and tell me if there are still open issues.

Wladimir,
Thank you for supporting K-Meleon.
Can this be installed over 0.7.5.5 or should it be "clean".
Regards,

Installing over 0.7.5.5 is fine - it's all the same files, so it will simply be overwritten. Only difference is that you shouldn't need to add a menu item manually now.

Wladimir,

I installed 0.7.5.5+ over the older installation and, using Easy filter, blocking of ads works well, as always.

The preferences screen at Tools > AdBlock Plus... certainly seemed to work as intended.

With regard to the ABP red stop sign logo on the tool bar:

- If I left click on the ABP logo, I get the block-able items screen

- If I right click on the ABP logo, I get the small menu, "open block-able items" and "Preferences ...". However, selecting either of these does nothing.

The right click ABP logo small menu also has:
- disable on the domain,
- disable on the specific page,
- options, and
- enable ABP.

I tried the options and they appear to work from right-clicking the ABP red logo.

From what I can tell, the only hiccup is the right-click of the ABP logo with regard to open block-able items and preferences.

Best regards on a great piece of software, namely AdBlock Plus.

And thank you again for supporting K-Meleon.

Wladimir, what do you reckon, when will be Adblock 1.0 final available?

when running 2 profiles side by side and closing the secondly launched profile, adblockplus.dll causes an xpcom error message. adblockplus doesn't necessarily have to be enabled for that error to trigger. whether adblockplus is enabled or disabled with the plugin loaded; it will always initiate this error when the last running profile is closed.

this problem has been consistent with adblockplus and km since version 1.5.x and did not exist in 1.1.x versions.

that version blocks some weird(non-ads) things:

at metacrawler.com.. the logo image was blocked and so was a narrow grey frame around a red box.

using 1.5.2 with that rc version and comparing with 1.5.1 with that previous adblock version.. exact same subscriptions.. both updated at the same time(u.s. easylist and deutsch cedrics).. the previous adblockplus version did not block the metacrawler image or the grey frame.

i made sure it's adblock related and not km bug( new profile?default settings>without adblock plus and old profile+adblock disabled) so i'm pretty certain it's related to abp rc version.

metacrawler 1.5.2 abprc:

metacrawler 1.5.1 adp 0.7.4+ : (exact same subscriptions)

I tried to unzip Adblock plus but during the unzipping of adblock.dll it asked me for a password. Then i realized loader is still running. So i closed it. I tried to unzipped again, but i could not. Then I opened APT and found out that kmeleon.exe is still running. I closed it and managed to unzip AB+.

My question: Why is kmeleon.exe still running if main widow and loader are closed?

gvgerman, thanks for noticing that bug - it was already there in at least one previous version. I fixed it now, so in Adblock Plus 1.0.1 it will work again.

disrupted, thanks, will try to find out what causes this crash. As to things being blocked, this is not an Adblock Plus issue: http://adblockplus.org/en/getting_started#false-positives

thanks palant. the crash was fixed with the final release of 1.5.2, it seems to have been related to this kmeleon bug and not adblockplus related
