the problem with finding websites preferences.. if you choose domain auto-completion, you can no longer search from the URLbar and you get invalid domain if you do.. if you select automatically consult aa search engine, you've lost the keyword autocomplete functionality.. either way it's a compromise and you can't get both options working together.
this is a work around using a proxy file using a codeen server.
http://necb.bizhat.com/kmeleon/net.pac
it doesn't alter how you connect to the internet..you;re still connecting directly but if you type a keyword; codeen automatically kicks in and adds your www and .com .org thingies.. if you type a phrase, your search engine takes over as normal.
configuration:
1. download net.pac and save to root folder c:\
2. open kmeleon preferences>browsing>finding websites> and make sure "when a type url fails consult search engine" is selected
3. in preferences>network>proxies> select new configuration tab:
name configuration as: autocomplete
select use the following url and enter this address:
file:///c|/net.pac.. save new configuration
4. under proxy>general> select user-defined proxy and select autocomplete from dropdown box
restart kmeleon
if your ISP requires you to connect through a proxy then open net.pac in notepad..find red section:
function FindProxyForURL(url, host)
{
// variable strings to return
var proxy_yes = "PROXY 194.36.10.154:3128";
var proxy_no = "DIRECT";
if (shExpMatch(url, "127.0.0.1")) { return proxy_no; }
if (shExpMatch(url, "*www.*")) { return proxy_no; }
if (shExpMatch(url, "*.*")) { return proxy_no; }
if (shExpMatch(url, "https://*") { return proxy_no; }
if (shExpMatch(url, "ftp://*") { return proxy_no; }
if (shExpMatch(url, "gopher*")) { return proxy_no; }
return proxy_yes;
}
change direct to PROXY your.isp.proxy.nummer.: ispport
e.g
var proxy_no = "PROXY 53.232.32.23:80";
