Why is K-M missed in browser reviews?

In a comparison of browsers the other week a mag reviewed the usual five: IE, Firefox, Opera, Safari and Chrome... seems to be always the case. K-M is still relatively unknown I think!?

well.. to most of the poor ignorant so-called tech editors, kmeleon is a just a firefox spin-off; like say flock..so they see no point of reviewing km if they already reviewed firefox which is the 'popular' gecko. others are better informed and know the differences but will not invest their time investigating a software unless there's some kind of 'reward'..(whore editors).

every now and then you will find an honest non-bias review of kmeleon but not on the big known whore sites/mags.

here's an old but an interesting one from an indian site.. you can tell that the editor is not a whore

Young editors at most of the mags these days and lack of institutional memory. You'd think that at the very least, they'd review today's Netscape Communicator, aka Mozilla Suite, aka SeaMonkey.... but noooo.

KM is far down the list I think.

Maybe because K-meleon still stalls and freezes without any apparent reason???

And i am talking about a fresh untouched 1.5.2/1.5.3 install i have not messed up with..

At the first time i tought is was me...(I like to take K-meleon appart and mess with the Dll`s chrome ,components and stuff )so i have not payed much attention..

But recently i have noticed that even on a pristine installation K-meleon has this habbit!

Gorilla no baka,

Any URLS we can check to see if this freezing can be replicated?

Tks.

How does one tell the difference between a stall and a slow website or connection?

Simple...like i do...I have this site i use it to test the download speed..
Why??? because i need to see the REAL DOWNLOAD SPEED IN REAL CONDITIONS..

I have my MTU /TCP/IP modded....along with the K-meleon ones....I know the difference between a slow website a slow connection and a stall. But here you go:Tested in the maximum rush hour in UK..

And if you wanna check the speed connection of a certain website :

The freezing is randomly...One moment can be google the next one can be yahoo or even cnn...

There is no pattern in K-meleon`s freezing. And when it freezes it DOES FREEZE !!! Not even the search button on the upper tool bar would work..

I have to close the browser and start it over again!

Thank you!

@ Gorilla no baka

I assume from what you have said that you do not get an error message. When you restart you do not get any message about not closing properly?

It is not always during a file download where this happens. Sometimes it is just on page loading as well?

Can you create another tab and get some page to load once the freeze occurs?

I am sorry if by questions are so basic, but I have learned by experience that I do not always understand what has been said or written on my first try.

I don't think I have had this happen to me. Certainly not the part about having to close and restart KM.

It never happened to freeze during the download..only during the loading of the pages..the downloads screen shoots are there just to show that i am on broadband and that i have enough speed..

As i said ...It does not allways happen..I tought it was because i was messing with the exe`s and the dll`s ...
But as i told you guys...It happens even on a fresh untouched instalation..

Cheers!

this sounds like a memory conflict between kmeleon and some other background(probably resident) app..they are both fighting for the same resources and then kmeleon looses the battle..probably with an extra demanding webpage

It never happened to freeze during the download..only during the loading of the pages..

this indicates the problem..download doesn't demand any additional resources..infact it's when you're downloading(without surfing during) is when kmeleon requires least resources and often will freeup ram. if you have the patience to test, you can start by disabling bg applications one by one and test surfing- not saying that it's not kmeleon's fault and the other program is the culprit- they are both to blame but to understand why and how..we need to find out the other bastard
