Go to Edit -> Preferences (F2) -> Browsing (section) -> Tabbed Browsing (subsection) -> Uncheck "Enable Tabbed Browsing ..." option and restart K-Meleon to changes take effect.

yes,it works. thank you!
But this way also disables the toolbar at the top of the windows. I mean the bar I can add links to. I recoverd my computer before and installed K-Meleon again. I remember this toolbar and multi-windows mode can exist at the same time. But it is strange it can not work now.

thanks. I found another problem. If I click a link which is from a search result or provided by a webpage, the browser can work in multi-windows mode. But if I click the link in the bookmarks, the new window opened will cover the former one. What I want is the browser working at multi-windows mode any time. I have tried to change the options in Preference--Browsing----general & window diversion. I can not solve my problem .
