Not saying K-Meleon is slow but is there a version that loads faster and/or uses less memory, maybe with some features removed?

Are you aware of the loader.exe file within K-Meleon? It does not change resources, but is designed to "load" KM quicker. I think it does this by never fully unloaded KM. Anything which requires a restart of KM will also require and stopping and starting of loader.exe.

I have not myself used loader.exe so my explanation may not completely accurate. Search this forum for "loader" and perhaps there will be more information,
