After another good browser was frozen and moved to spy core of Big-G... I'd like to share one idea which could save KM and keep it alive... It seems me a ONE real way...
I hope to find people to be involved in that interesting idea!

So, there was one abandoned Mozilla's project -"Chromeless"-

It's still alive a bit with support of enthuziast though.-

And now is exist a workable browser with UI -
http://webian.org/shell/

I really hope that KM could move to that base, because it's the only way I see...

What's in profit-
Multi-platform for any OS,
still the good-old Gecko,
still no XUL

If you use Chromeless to build a browser, it would be remaking the browser UI, except using standard Web technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to do it.

But isn't the Chromeless development environment/toolkit itself an XUL-app that runs on top of XULRunner?

Wouldn't that be two levels of coding interfaces that still uses XUL, whereas KMeleon is supposed to be fast by not using XUL at all, but by calling native Windows GUI elements directly?

...it has no any XUL in interface, it uses JetPack.

but I suppose it would be useful optionally to keep XUL libs for compatibility with adopted FF extensions like KM does.

D555, when you ambiguously start your post with "it", it requires us to guess what you're talking about.

I assume you mean: Chromeless has no any XUL in interface, it uses JetPack, which I agree with. That's why I said the browser UI is remade with standard Web technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

But D555, I don't think you answered my more important question about where Chromeless comes from:
Isn't the Chromeless development environment/toolkit itself an XUL-app that runs on top of XULRunner?

Look at the timeline.

https://github.com/mozilla/chromeless/releases

That is about the time window when the last chromeless K-Meleons were issued by Hao.

This shell download is a 2011 vintage Xul-Runner that does not even have a working URL bar. sad smiley
