Great indeed, naruman. But a question concerning the ViewTube userscript. I do want to try it but I don't know how to install it. Can you or anyone else help me?

Thx a lot

I believe in K-Meleon too rodocop.

@ Mala Okeh

Try this macro , i used to have macro do that onload , but seem it's 'injectJS code' break in km 74 'causing problems'.

Right click the page >"Youtub Plugin change" click '+' full tab & f11 full screen .

For more about plugins read the script page.

And i will re-check the plugin-container.exe & look for Solution.

Thx,naruman, it works fine but of course it would be more comfortable to have the plugin.container.exe working and handling this perfectly - so I'll wait for that.

Perhaps one question in the meantime : would it otherwise be possible to integrate in the YouTubePlugin script the following : that once you get to a Youtube video it changes automatically to that script? That would help a lot.

Thx again in advance

Inject JS is work almost good (except js alert inject ) , the problem was in get values from js to macro , which didn't work.

This is a Simple macro to get the userscript after loading the page .

I must be dreaming.... KM IS RESURRECTING!!!!!
*happydance!*

Had completely lost hope quite some time ago, and now I can't believe it quite yet :-))):drool:grinning smiley

Mighty glad since in KM16 there's some absolutely annoying css-browsercrash bug that appears more and more often these days. But am absolutely NOT ready to use any other browser, never saw one that even remotely fulfilled my needs. Once in a few weeks I'm forced to use one to get some pesky 'modern' website loaded, but hate it. Absolutely need my privacy bar with that nice row of buttons and yet more in the priv menu, and need some important macros, and the ability to do little modifications myself, and... and...

THANK YOU to DORIAN for rescuing it!!
And also THANX to all the other developers that suddenly seam to appear out of nowhere, naruman, rodocop, also to JamesD, Fred and everyone :-)
It's incredible to see new bugfixes posted every day now - whoa...! Okay so I'll wait a bit more before testing 74 myself grinning smiley

Must just sadly admit that for the User Agent statistics I'm long since a firefox user, due to not wanting to be the only user worldwide with a KM1.6+win98+de Agent ;-)

Would it be possible to make a button for the toolbar to go immediately to this new submenu "Previuos Searches"

Haven't tried now again, but this did work fine for toolbar buttons in my older KM-version (and with another menu, but should work for all menus).
Try this in the skin config:
rebarmenu(&Previous Searches)

Thx a lot MiraclesHappen. The button for PreviousSearches is ok!

As you are definitely an expert in this matter I would like you to ask another favour: would it be possible to create a button to toggle Block Advertisement as k-meleon has one in the Privacy toolbar for BlockPopups, BlockImages etc. I can't figure it out myself.

Thx in advance

"places.history.expiration.max_pages"

Mala, no need to be an expert for an adblock-button, just copy the one which is already contained in the classiria skin, with more buttons for privbar-fans :-)

http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/wiki/K-MeleonThemes15?version=27
http://kmeleonbrowser.org/forum/read.php?10,100114

Have myself toggled adblock all the time in the past, but since KM1.6 it got nearly unusable by refreshing ALL background tabs instantly too, not just the current page, which is a pain on a slow machine with 30-60 tabs open :-( So now it just stays permanently switched on.

F2 > History > in Global History groupbox
when a user uncheck 'Keep a list of all pages...'
km74 set the value 0 in preference 'browser.history_expire_days'.
When restarting, km resets this preference and set the default value.
This means that km ignores user setting.
Did anyone noticed this,
and maybe someone knows something about this?

I think this means we cannot change the size of our history unless we change the amount of memory and number of cores in our CPU.

Usually there is no need to tweak or set any preference, since adaptive behavior should satisfy each need, though in case of unexpected issues it's possible to act on some hidden preferences:

places.history.expiration.interval_seconds: Minimum number of seconds between expiration steps. Default is 180 seconds.
places.history.expiration.max_pages: The maximum number of pages that may be retained in the database before starting to expire. Default value is calculated on startup and put into the places.history.expiration.transient_current_max_pages preference. This transient version of the preference is just mirroring the current value used by expiration, setting it won't have any effect.

I can't find it in any place , even in 'ja' files , did you merge it in the binary file or something ?

And i checked the bug again using [k-meleon 74c + xulrunner-25.0.1] from the update to your first message :

1-In omni.ja:
-Open km & go to any site like 'yahoo.com' .
-open gecko console[ chrome://global/content/console.xul ].
-click on any link in it 'the blue one'.

2-In ff ui [browser\chrome\browser] :
-open [chrome://browser/content/browser.xul].
-Get any of the ui like [history\Show all history].

Then add the 'nsTypeAheadFind.js' to km & Do All this steps again .

Something else , i managed to make right click menu in xul work , by using the xulrunner . but it still have one problem.

I still have a problem with video and audio plugins. e.g. on this site : http://www.xanthi.ilsp.gr/filog/ch13/dial/dial2.asp

Apparently k-meleon74 cannot handle mms types. Is there a solution for that?

Thx in advance

System specific problem. You need Windows Media Player support for Firefox.

AFAIK download here.

http://www.interoperabilitybridges.com/windows-media-player-firefox-plugin-download

Or @ the K-Meleon extensions download page.

http://kmext.sourceforge.net/mplug.htm

Maybe some other plugins like VLC player will also play it.

MMS is no file format supported by any Mozilla browser directly.

Missing preferences for proxy:
pref("network.proxy.gopher", "");
pref("network.proxy.gopher_port", 0);

As per Firefox 4 Gopher support was dropped. deadlock noticed it a while ago.
Mozilla was one of the last browser projects to support Gopher.
MS had already dropped Gopher support in IE 6 SP1.
Webkit based newer browsers never had any Gopher support.

The Overbite project of C. Kaiser offers Add Ons for never browsers and mobile devices.

Source German Wikipedia.

Quote
Wikipedia

K-Meleon 1.6 and 1.7 are the last K-Meleons that did have native support for the Gopher protocol.

For Firefox 4 and higher an Add On called OverbiteFF exists.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/overbiteff/

So these 2 missing prefs are probably really redundant.

pref("network.http.max-connections-per-server", 15);

This is possibly obsolete also. It had already changed when K-Meleon was 1.6.

http://gemal.dk/blog/2008/03/18/firefox_3_beta_5_will_have_improved_connection_parallelism/

Quote
Gemal.dk "Firefox 3 beta 5 will have improved connection parallelism"
Just like IE8 increase from 2 concurrent connections per host to 6, Mozilla Firefox will also increase it to 6. The about:config entry for this is "network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server".

Furthermore the max number of HTTP connections will be increase from 24 to 30. The about:config entry for this is "network.http.max-connections".

The number of HTTP connections that can be established per host will go up from 8 to 15. The about:config entry for this is "network.http.max-connections-per-server".

If you using Firefox from behind a proxy then the max number of concurrent connections will be increased from 4 to 8. The about:config entry for this is "network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy".

All in all this will make Firefox 3 beta 5 even faster. These changes are needed since, according to Mozilla developers:
Sites are demanding more connections due to JS traffic, and we're using up more of the total connection limit with suggest requests, antimalware, extension traffic, etc.
Read the bug report about the connection changes
Read about the IE8 Connection Parallelism

For the technical people these are the new defaults:
pref("network.http.max-connections", 30);
pref("network.http.max-connections-per-server", 15);
pref("network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server", 6);
pref("network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy", 8);

Fasterfox which is a Add-on that has performance and network tweaks for Firefox uses these settings:
user_pref("network.http.max-connections", 40);
user_pref("network.http.max-connections-per-server", 16);
user_pref("network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy", 12);
user_pref("network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server", 6);

but these settings are not recommended since they, as Mike Shaver puts it, would get us (Firefox) banned from the internet.

Maybe re-use the settings from a newer version of Fasterfox (for new PCs and more conservative settings for older PCs).

That would conserve Your time. They continued to update the settings while this project lay dormant because it was tied to a (gradually becoming) obsolete GRE.

I just checked my KM 74 and the values for some max connections are quite a bit higher than those in your post.

Are these values going to be a problem? There is not a pref for max per server. Note, that I do not use a proxy.

IMHO no worry.

Some of the mentioned prefs will not exist any more. We should IMHO brainstorm to help our Bosnian comrade to find out what prefs are still used and good. I had info that Gopher was probably abandoned and that the values of max connections had risen over 15. So I posted my info with source.

Gemal.dk's observations are earlier than K-Meleon 1.6 vintage .

March 18, 2008 09:44 AM | Posted in Mozilla

The settings will be higher now.

Values as high as You point out are IMHO the rule these days.

Most of the servers and most of the PCs can easily do them.
The lines of ISPs in developed areas and towns can take the traffic.

p.s. The easiest way/least time consuming way to find out what is optimal on up to date PCs, with a good ISP and to connect to a powerful server is IMHO Faster Fox.
It may also help to sort what prefs are still in use or useful.

For older PCs it may be better take some more conservative options. There are old threads in this Forum IMHO. But even slow PCs are rather better than many ISP services in rural areas and some web servers too. But there is no harm in trying to get more or most service.

A Pentium 500 with little RAM which is many years old can take high settings for network but not for the post K-Meleon 1.6 GRE Java Script speculative calculations. These use much RAM and CPU.

But few of us use PCs that are real slow and limited. Even old, usable PCs have a GB of RAM and an Athlon 1000+ CPU nowadays. smiling smiley
