Morning, Hermes

Just to thank you again for your generous attention. You've given me a hugely useful reference cache, over your several posts.
I think that's set me up for now. Many, many thanks.

Bank holiday here, with 'traditional' BH weather threatening. You in that domain ?

Sincerely

Used it on and off over the years but now it is becoming more central.
Put one version on the home built PVR [v76RC2] because when FF ESR catches up to Quantum, some things are going to break {XUL}. Needed a XP friendly browser for I'm running legacy gear [no 64 bit drivers] and software in that machine. However, that will all go to hell as soon as ATSC 3.0/4K arrives, I suspect any tuners for that won't run on anything older than W10.

On this machine I just installed the 76Pro, slowly migrating passwords from FF60.[W7]. Considering it as main browser for W10 when I'm ready to build a 3-D rendering machine sometime in near future.

When moving today I'd probably skip KM76, it's rather outdated by now.
Meanwhile there's a much younger KM77-beta version, not by Dorian but new by roytam1, not based on native Gecko anymore but on Palemoon27 Goanna engine (don't mind that its file name is KM76-Goanna, wrong version number but inside it's a completely different branch and much younger engine)

O dear, sad smiley

I have visited the forum on and off for many years, but now so quiet.

Strange when Goanna is now here.

Difficult to find for newcomer visiting however.

Maybe Goanna should be more prominently listed and advertised here.

Yes, Im still using it. I'm not a software specialist. So it is a bit confusing what is going on. For me it's hard to find out what is the latest version. And quite often I come to websides saying you use an old browser. Never the less I like it.

Yes - clearly as main browser for daily use; usually with JavaScript turned off (but with one single click it can be turned on). I use another browser only for those pages that do not load correctly.

I just discovered this wonderful browser that can be configured as you wish. The few browsers still available under Windows XP that I was able to try displayed a 100% processor load, especially with Firefox 52 ESR which freezes on most sites. With this one, I oscillate between 5% and 20%, and if I disable javascript, it is even faster and more efficient. Like Firefox, I can still go to secure sites without being kicked out (RC4 refused). I adopt this browser for all my machines, even on Windows 10. I hope that K-meleon still has a bright future ahead of him and that the project is not abandoned.
Thank you very much for this memorable work. I am finally enjoying the pleasure of surfing again, great!

Сам использую эту тему ещё со времен Win95. Позже портировал её и на NT6.x.

It's good to see some people are really still using K-Meleon. Sometimes I have doubts lately... And even occasionally a new user smiling smiley Although I'm not sure for how long, after probably soon discovering it's also missing some important features, and not everything can be added by macros or addons, sigh.

Hello to all. Just found this great browser! I'm a big fan already. I was looking for a lightweight browser that would run smoothly on my old core 2 quad with windows 7.(KM 75.1) Just wanted to say thank you, it browses the web very fast! Only issue I've encountered so far is the dreaded youtube warning that my browser is old. So I changed the UA string to the latest firefox and the message is gone but when I click on a video it just goes to a blank screen. I discovered if I refresh the page it will play. Any way to solve this? Thank you.

If using windoze you may wish to try Centaury or Mypal. if Linux (as with me) Palemoon or SeaMonkey are quite good.
Sadly K-Meleon is sort of just sitting inside my HDD these days as it became too crashy for any practical, daily use anymore under WINE.

Wow. Long time since I've been here. KM was my favorite browser for many years. Slow dev and website apartheid drove me to Pale Moon - and switching to Linux has kept that permanent. I've missed it, though. The configurability, features like the Hotlinks; there's nothinglike it.

Today I happened to wander into the forum, and I discovered KM-goanna. I am running it right now, in Wine, and it's amazing. I've never seen such speed. Only crashed it once so far. Of course there are a lot of bloated websites that don't play so well with it. The Internet is a mucking fess these days and plays havoc with anything outside the Big Three.

So, there is life in the old lizard yet.

Try the version from previous week (20201212), the engine in current one has been reported to have a new bug in sibling NewMoon27.
KM-users report rather different experiences on LINUX, but there are far too few anyway. Might be interesting to share yours in the Linux subforum, if you like.
