Encryption Security Warning Always Pops Up
Posted by: Xgates

When I start KM and type something in Google I always get a encryption Security Warning, even though I uncheck it and then close KM, when I open KM and start over it pops up again.

Here's a screen shot:

I can't seem to disable this, this warning won't disable in the preferences when you uncheck it.

Any suggestions?

THANKS

Your K-Meleon does or cannot write into his profile.

Grant writing rights to K-Meleon profiles directory manually.
Right click: Properties...

IMHO Your system has not automatically granted the rights when You installed.
Either an OS problem courtesy of MS.
Else You deselected Multi user support on install (the install choice creates a portable version that is in ./k-meleon/profiles/...).

Well this is Win7 so does KM support it?

I've used KM on XP for over a year with problems...

THANKS

Hi, Xgates,

Win 7 (and Vist) are more restrictive with writing rights. As soon as K-M is allowed to write where it needs to write, there is no problem.
Where is your "Profiles" folder, in the K-M main folder or in your \user\application data\ folder?

Cheers

Not quite sure but guess things are easier on those handcuff systems, if installing new programs not into "programs", but into some independant folder. Something like c:/proggies or whatever...

A Windows problem courtessy of MS then.

As You say it works with XP. MS cannot change rules all the time.

The only profile path I see is in KM:

C:\Program Files (x86)\K-Meleon\Profiles

KM seems to be from what I can tell pretty much like FF and FF works just fine in Win7.

Seems as though KM doesn't support Win7 very well.

Remove a file named profile.ini in your K-Meleon folder, and launch K-Meleon, it will locate your profile under your user path

Warning: It seems that just only the presence of the file (even empty) locates the profiles under K-Meleon root folder. I have these cases under Ubuntu with 1.5.4 and 1.6.0b3

Well when it comes to browsers, if they don't work right on install and sometime after, I don't bother, no matter how small the problem.

To me a browser is something that should work and you shouldn't have to mess with it like this.

So it looks like the developers need to have better Win7 support.

For now I'll just stick to FF, 3.6 gives me no problems.

By default, the K-Meleon setup put the profile folder under personal folder (under Doc&Settings for XP)

If you find a folder profile under K-Meleon root folder, it's because there is a profile.ini in this folder. And, if you find profile.ini in the folder, it's because you have put it manually, or you have uncheck the option in the setup.

It seems you're trolling ...

Have you find a profile.ini in Km root folder ?
Have you tried to remove it ?
Have you test after that ?
