Hello,

is there a way to do this? The passwords' file name seems to have changed.

Thanks,
Michael

It has changed. From signons*.txt or *.s to sqlite.

View old passwords: You'll find a Base64 decoder here: http://www.yellowpipe.com/yis/tools/encrypter/ AFAIR right that makes signons readable.

You'll find an automated solution if You google the problem for Firefox 3 versions.

But I have not tested it. mfG aus Hannover

p.s. I read the linked post with some more leisure. Experiment. Result.
K-Meleon 74 can do that easier.

1.) Go to 1.6 used profile. It should work the same for 1.5.4 and earlier.

Copy the used signon file type to K-Meleon 74 used profile folder.
Also AFAIK copy the key3.db there - if You have used a master pass word.

2.) Open prefs.js in the 1.6 profile. Search for the string signon. Mine was an ancient 1.5.4. *.s signon file. Not a signon*.txt. I had hacked my 1.6 too. grinning smiley

user_pref("signon.SignonFileName", "72739712.s");

3.) Copy that user pref to the clipboard.

4.) Go to 74 used profile folder, open prefs.js, insert the string and save the file.

5.) Delete 74 signons.sqlite file and start the browser. Open F2 Privacy passwords. It takes longer. A new sqlite is written that contains Your passwords. At least it worked that way for me.

RFD. Maybe a macro coder can automate this?

BTW. If You reuse an old 1.x profile K-Meleon should automatically migrate the old passwords file. If not delete the signons.sqlite so that it is regenerated from the old Base64 text format files.
