attention please, about K-Meleon Macro Library

Hi, every one. I'm a long time K-Meleon user (as a back-up for Opera and it's also my portable browser of choice).
On the main K-Meleon Macro Library page at the very bottom someone has put spam links up. There are maybe five or six all bunched together. I haven't checked any other pages but it's likely there are more.
I'm bring this to your attention here because for one I do not have a user name to log in and make changes and two because I'm not even sure that I'd be able to erase links if I did anyway.
So I thought I'd let you guys know to do as you see fit.

@ Ogre

Thank you for the information. I have corrected the page.

Edit: Found more - fixed - still checking.

One more thing...grinning smiley

This sentence...For your convenience, you can use the Macro Submission Template as a guide to create your Data Recovery Service Reviews macro page by copy & pasting its contents into yours and then filling it out with your macro information....has had one of the links changed this, Data Recovery Service Reviews, I'm betting isn't supposed to go to an outside page that deals with data recovery services (call it a hunch smiling smiley ).
I'm not sure where the link used to go though or if there was even a link there to start with. Damn spammers! They're everywhere!

I have fixed some pages, but I doubt that I have fixed all that have spam. I am going to wait for some input from a moderator before doing more.

I do know the ID that updated the pages prior to my fix, and so will the moderator.

Can You send the user name of the spammer by mail?

Thx for the info.

Not only at the bottom. Also at the top. I removed the ones I found.

You can edit the wiki also. AFAIK You only need an bug tracker account.

This
http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/wiki/RecentChanges
would be very handy, if it only wouldn't miss 2/3 of the pages :-/

This
http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/wiki/UpdatedPages
shows all (I guess), but the list stops after some 25pages and shows no user names in the list, one has to open every single page and check by clicking on page info.

If you search for changes with the wiki "diff" function, you may spot them easier after adding this (or similar) to adblock or usercontent.css:

/* ########### KMELEON WIKI CHANGES BOLD ###############
@-moz-document url-prefix(http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/wiki/diffwinking smiley {
.add , .del
{background-color: wheat !important; font-weight: bold ; font-size: 14px !important; }
}

Yes & I answered it. So You did not get the answer. sad smiley

Do we deactivate the user that last edited the page?

-----

p.s. I have made up my mind & deactivated several users that have edited the wiki with other Browser string than K-Meleon and have no forum post to their records.

I did not get your email yet. I think you are right to drop the userid which appears to have done most of the spam.

I see that you have been busy fixing pages. I wish that the listings that siria found were more complete.

I think my answer mail got lost. This happens nowadays. IMHO they are discarded as spam. sad smiley

sirias links seem complete enough. I checked back many hundred days on this link:
http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/wiki/RecentChanges

The spammers started some while ago. The one that You named in Your mail was particularly busy since about 25/26.june.

I forgot to do it but we could try to use Google.com to ask what links to spam URLs are leading out.

deadlock located another 17 pages with spam links leading out.

The pages were reset to the last good and the spammers were deleted from the user list.

Best recursive procedure for me.

1.) Click PageInfo /SeitenInfo at the bottom of the page
2.) Click diff (on the left of the 1st line under the caption)
3.) Look what was added.

Until I reached the last good.

RecentChanges

Sat, 09 Jul 2011
· (diff) FeaturesDe 08:27 (2 changes) . . . . . guenter
· (diff) DownloadDe 08:24 (2 changes) . . . . . guenter
· (diff) DelIcioUs 08:20 (2 changes) . . . . . guenter
· (diff) ClipTex 08:18 (2 changes) . . . . . guenter

Does not show all pages changed and updated.

And the list of UpdatedPages is quite short and does not show the name of the person that did the last changes - so You have to check all and cannot rule out changes that come from persons well know to You. sad smiley

The problem is also, once anyone posted something in the KM wiki, google will keep it as a hit forever! If you google for anything (e.g. classiria), google will list the old versions of the wiki pages as hits, and the outdated "live" version as well as googles cached version of it will work fine. Those hits will stay fully valid forever, at least for search engines sad smiley

I'm really scared of that "the KM website is edited by every passing idiot" policy sad smiley No serious visitor can even get the idea that this webpage isn't reliable in the least, and if he trusts the KM devs, he'll wrongly assume that their webpage were reliable too, with the exception of professional hackers only, a much tinier risk than a publicly edited site. Seriously, I've started to think that perhaps a glaring spam here and there may even have a positive side-effect, for being the only little hint to visitors that the site is not enough protected. And the real danger is malware of course.

@Siria
"Paginfo" requests to be indexed by search engines.
That is where spam keys are placed on restore of original content.
One of us should request admin status with access to server to fix that.

One or more moderators need privilege to delete wiki info pages with spam content. Possibly.
But this solution needs constant vigilance and maintenance time.
And possibly some special knowöedge on how to edit that stuff.

A better solution would be to make the Wiki editor add "class="external text" rel="nofollow"" to external links like German Wikipedia does.

The info pages AFAIK do not have the right html syntax to give the spammers' pages rank for specific keywords. So it is IMHO not that essential to do much except reset the page.
