Edit toolbars using the configuration menu and change the section for search to a comment by placing a # before each line in the section.

#  Search{
#	%ifplugin macros
#	macros(Search)|&Web Search
#	Type a word or phrase in the URL Bar, then click this button or press Ctrl+G to search the Web. Right-click to choose different search engine.
#	%else
#	navSearch
#	%endif
#	}

Save the file and restart K-Meleon.

Just notice the tooltip must be very old and is outdated. It should meanwhile read:

Type a word or phrase in the URL Bar, or select some text on the page, then click this...

It worked, thanks James. Let's just hope the icons won't dissapear again.

I tested and used toolbars.cfg from Beta instead of Beta2 because I don't use the Default skin usually. I have not checked Beta2.

Not yours James, I meant it's outdated in the official builds.
How shall clueless users notice the great selection function otherwise? And it's been around since at least KM1.6, probably even earlier.
