K-Meleon reports "invalid domain", but with Maxthon no Problem ...

While sneaking around I came to following Website:

https://inside.bahn.de/bahn-typen-test/?dbkanal_006=L01_S01_D088_KTL0006_-_BAHNTYPEN_LZ01

This should be some "game" to find out what type of train-user you ought to be ...

But that's not usable with K-Meleon: "invalid domain" is reported and the url-line got a red background ... the quiz does not appear.

With Maxthon it's no problem ...

Btw: same thing only with https://inside.bahn.de/bahn-typen-test/

What's wrong with that domain?

Oh, just saw that it's K-Meleon 75.0 (and not 75.1) running on Win 8.1 ...

Now with K-Meleon 75.1 on Vista x64 ... the url-line is still red (seems to be something from bahn.de), but "invalid domain" does not appear ...

The red urlbar is a gecko feature, it means that a page claims to be encrypted (httpssmiling smiley but in reality it's not, or not fully. In the statusbar right corner is also a broken lock symbol.

There are a variety of related user settings, for encryption and certificate stuff, but am not familiar with it.
Perhaps try the settings here:
F2 > Privaccy Security > Encrypted Transmission

And on about:config there are TONS of "ssl" and "tls" prefs...

Make sure JavaScript is on. Play will work then. It does in all my K-M since 74.

p.s. You are right. They show broken icon. 74 does not show broken icon.

Re: K-Meleon reports "invalid domain", but with Maxthon no Prob (https mixed_content?)

Just came across recent notes concerning the https "mixed-content" blocks. Not sure if that's the cause here, but perhaps?

Anyway, Rodocop had discovered that those 2 prefs are controlling those blocks:
pref("security.mixed_content.block_active_content",true);
pref("security.mixed_content.block_display_content",false);

In short it means that unencrypted elements on https-pages are blocked by default since Firefox23, for security/privacy reasons.
But it turned out that broke tons of sites, so they split it into 2 prefs, one for "active" and one for "passive" content. The "active" elements are potentially more harmful, the "passive" elements are images, audios, videos, which are only "displayed".
So the default setting in Firefox is now active=blocked, passive=allowed.

It was explained in detail e.g. on this german page:

That's not the reason Siria, because in K-meleon 75.0 I block them by default (both) and the page loads fine.

With a side note, as I became quite drastic in how I block/browse in the past months, I have to tell that the only requirement for this page is third party site scrips and subdocument (the quiz is loaded in an iframe) permissions.

EDIT: the quiz is here, just in case someone would like to give it a try:

So if this ...

pref("security.mixed_content.block_active_content",true);
pref("security.mixed_content.block_display_content",false);

... is the case, then the privacy-bar should be enhanced by these two options to swich them separately ...

Btw: I have taken out the "clear" and the "kill" options from privacy bar and set them to a separate "clear bar" and "kill bar" (that are usually turned off, but can be turned on if needed ... grinning smiley
