KM 75.1: Increasing compatibility problems?
Posted by: Zvonko

I am using KM 75.1 (portable), UserAgent Mode: FireFox Compatible, Win 10.

During a support procedure on my MS account I discovered that

https://account.microsoft.com/billing/payments#/?state=add

is not working ('Enter your payment option info', but there is no form below this displayed) although MS assures that FireFox is supported.

(The same with KM 74.0!)

Is there a solution for such compatibility problems?

You probably need to allow third party cookies (preferences -> privacy and security)

@Dorian, Cookiess: No, with 'Allways' and 'From the originating website only' the same problem.

Maybe you could test this on www.booking.com. Try to login (with fictious data).

@Zvonko
I did a test with K-Meleon 75.1 on booking.com using bogus credentials:

So it must be something screwed up on your end.

Probably just some setting. A different default setting, perhaps Frames, but no idea, or some user setting.

And that "compatibility" setting means just a fake suffix to the useragent, unless I'm mistaken, and doesn't change anything inside KM itself?
Perhaps you could compare your actual UAs on some browsertest site?

Thank you very much, Yogi and siria!

I tested now a fresh 75.1 (Portable), with these results:
- 2nd described problem, login on booking.com: OK
- 1st described problem, account.microsoft.com: NOT OK
- a 3th problem, described in my posting 'KM 75.1: Another problem ... Google': OK

So two of my three problems seems to be caused by profile issues.
My first attempt was to delete all cache folders. No effect.
I also tested my user agent data. They are identical for my old KM 75.1 and the fresh one:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.2; WOW64; rv:31.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/31.0 K-Meleon/75.1

So ... how to find the setting which could cause this problem? I wouldn't like to deletec all my settings ...

Great, already a step forward!

Okay, the usual suspects are UA, Cookies, Javascript and Referer (http+https). Perhaps just referer? Check F2>Privacy>Paranoia
Or other settings in the privacy department or Tools>Privacy
Or an adblocker... there's a new one contained now!
JamesD made a macro that creates a menu for its settings, something with "control" in the name...

PS: there's also the possibility to try just with an alternative profile, need not always be another installation:
Edit>Manage Profiles>Ask at startup
Startup / Click "New"

And most settings of the Toggle-sort are stored in the file "prefs.js" in the current profile folder. That's just a plain text file, can be copied or edited.

Every preference setting which is not the default, appears in the "prefs.js" file in your profile. While KM is not running, make a copy of that file as a backup. You can then change any preference settings and you have a way to return them all to your settings. Stop KM, copy your backup copy of "prefs.js" back into your profile and KM will use it at the next startup.

Or yet another way, after making a BACKUP of prefs.js:
open page "about:config" (Edit>Configuration>Browser Configuration)

It's an endless list of prefs, the "thin" ones are default, the "bold" ones are user-set. Not all but many react instantly when toggling. If type is Bool with a doubleclick, the others by right-click.

Actually the big majority of the bold entries are just the content of prefs.js
Not all bold ones are manually changed by a user, a few get adjusted automatically, for example following system language. Or occasionally by a macro.
This list contains LOTS more settings than are available in the user interface.

Thank you very much, siria and JamesD.

Unfortunately I was not able to identify which individual setting causes the login problem on booking.com (my 2nd posting) and the problem in Google (Link), so I was forced to make a new profile.

So these two problems are resolved.

(Note: My old profile showed this problem only in KM 75.1, not in KM 74. So there seems to be a connection to an internal KM issue too.)

However, my initial posting referring to a page on account.microsoft.com seems to address a real COMPATIBILITY PROBLEM.

Could somebody who has an MS account test this?
