I've noticed the Go button opens in the same tab or a new tab by doing slightly different things. If I type a URL, the Go button opens in the same tab. If I have a page loaded and change the URL and want to go that modified URL, the go button opens in a new tab. I want this later method to open in the same tab as well. How can I do that?

Am a bit confused, is the URL in the bar highlighted for one method and not for the other...?

Also would try changing the setting for "Selected Text" in the place that guenter mentioned, in the same menu right below "Typed Text"

Have you made any changes from default for 'Search Typed'? On my system, that is the only one set to open in a new tab.

Change the 'Search Typed' to same tab and try to do the same change to the URL bar. Just as a test only.
