Had to turn off Virtual Memory (WinXP) for some (other, not KM-related) reasons. KM is then not usable. It just quits at any unpredictable time without warning. Often when you open a new tab it has some problems with loading, and then KM is just totally away. At least the sessions are not lost ... That should not be!
Check your memory cache settings - set KM to auto determine amount of RAM used.
Also set the pref browser.cache.memory.max_entry_size to "-1".
Not sure it would help but this is all you can do as user.
