Is Hostpost your internet provider?

When I put Hostpost in URL area, I was taken to http://hostpost.co.uk/. Is this what you mean?

Sorry, but English is my only language.

James,

the problem is about connecting to wireless hotspot, I think. But I cannot be more specific as I cannot get into connection scenario (I suggest there is a login page for 'free' wifi connection instead of some sort of encryption - WEP, WPA - of the wi-fi channel itself)

Sorry,

there was a misprint : I meant "hotspot", not "hostpost"

The problem is actually connecting to internet hotspots using K-meleon.

My login/password is rejected while it is accepted when I use Internet Explorer

Of course, I can access the internet with K-meleon when I use my own box.

It seems to be the old problem of Firefox and other Gecko-based browsers.

Not sure if it can help you but try to:

1) set proxy type to 'System proxy'. This cannot be made from default KMs GUI, but you can:

- open about:config page (Edition -> Configuration - Configuration du Navigateur)
find the pref 'network.proxy.type' by search, double-click it and set to '5'

- or just install (download, unpack to KM folder and restart browser) ProxTog extension and select 'System proxy (type=5)' from its context menu.

2) if this wouldn't help - try to install and use free Hotspot Shield VPN - it makes your wifi connection safer and POSSIBLY may solve your problem (and may not).

3) If all this doesn't help - we should give up and use IE to login. But you can do it from inside KM using IEtab extension

Sorry, neither can I get into connection scenario for testing.
Just want to remind that ProxTog extension is since K-Meleon 75 not required anymore since Dorian made this feature native by slightly modifying main.kmm.

1.) Connecting to WiFi is for me (XP SP3) done by the System connection manager for Wireless Lan. Not by IE.

Please check what Wireless Lan connections are offered and sign in the password with the manager of Windows system. When You have done that K-Meleon should use the connection.

2.) IE can use services/objects of certain system dll. This is a stand alone feature of IE. No other current browser can do that. So perhaps IE is doing something with a dll.

You can also try whether K-Meleon can also use the connection initiated by IE.

F 7 switches out/on JavaScript. Check that JavaScript is on. On is needed for password transactions. Cookies are also needed. But that is for internet sites.

Perhaps it's something complicated, but perhaps just simple settings?
Whenever I login somewhere and it immediately switches back to login page, it's always a reminder: oops, forgot to allow cookies!

- cookies must be allowed
- some sites may even insist to have 3rd party cookies allowed too
- some may want referers allowed too, for http+https
- some may only let certain useragents in (fake it)
- javascript rather rarely required too

Also check permission exceptions for cookies
Or password manager settings interfering somehow? Am not using it myself, so not sure.

3rd-party cookies off by default - it's a K-Meleon story.

As far as I recall the default setting for 3rd-party cookies is "on" in K-Meleon. You could easily test with a fresh install of KM75 or KM76 and prove me wrong if I'm mistaken. smiling smiley

No need to test - just check default kmeleon.js:

in KM76 RC2 it has this setting - pref("network.cookie.cookieBehavior", 1); meaning
Quote

1: Allow cookies from originating server only

I was mistaken. The reason therefore is main.kmm. If you take a closer look at it you will see:
togglepref(INT,$pref_Cookies,2,0);
It means that as soon as somebody will toggle cookies off/on, the pref will change to "all" cookies allowed and will remain so.
