Is there a way of manually setting this in prefs?

If you use EDIT - CONFIGURATION - BROWSER CONFIGURATION, you should be able to set it manually.

I manually enabled it to true but nothing doing.

I notice in about:confg for km 160 that there is also an entry for
keyword.url user string value (google encrypted url)

I tried entering this into km74 but nothing changes.

Simply put, I want to search for words or names from the url bar using the Enter button rather than ctrl+g,
usually checking keyword autosearch accomplishes this.

in KM74b4 Keyword autosearch works only through Google regardless whatever engine you choose.

The most recent portable build, published by Dorian, hasn't option to choose engine for Keyword Autosearch but it uses default search engine which COULD be changed by user - thus you can use this feature in way you want

Thanks for that portable release link. I added searchbar kplugin
selected google browse by name as default, hid the search bar, and now I can search Google for names and phrases by pressing ENTER.

I added Hao's ccfme gestures dll + these user_prefs for drag & drop of links
and now I'm back in business

my sig is populated by different assemblies, made by community, that I consider to be most useful in my own work.
When KM was in 3 years hibernation period (most of us believed it was dead) there was a need to create custom builds in order to compensate some 'holes' in old engine functionality.

K-Meleon-1.6db+NS - dugbugoffice creates his optimized build with some tweaks and most recent NoScript, working with KM-1.6.

KM-16-S2014 was one of hybride builds by Fred, which was the most able KM portable assembly for a long time.

1.6beta2.6 by JamesD was the most close to last official beta with some additions by community and JamesD personally.

K-Meleon Twin+ - it's my own 'final' build, which was implied to bring together all the best KM stuff created by community for usability and power work. While building this I've started to make my own stuff - extensions, tweaks, graphics et al.

In general, all that builds had the same base - KM 1.6 (partly 1.5 and 1.7) with old Gecko engine, but were customized in terms of look and feel, addons, tweaks etc.

All of them are portable in order to give the user possibility to choose between different builds using them side-by-side not replacing each other.

Now I'm waiting for stable KM74 based on modern Gecko to build new Twin.

Thanks for filling me in on the versions, nice to see K-m and it's very helpful people still around. I'm a technical duffer but I always liked making tweaks
with guidance from this forum.
