Has KM a problem with displaying the source code (Ctrl+u) of complex webpages?
Try a page like www.zeit.de. KM needs extremely long to display the source code, and after this all opened KM windows are not responding ...
View source code takes about 1 second for 6536 lines of source code for me (K-Meleon 76 RC).

What could be the reason for the strange behavior in my case?
I concur. I am using KM 76 RC2 on Win 10.
Not sure. I will try on another machine with less power and RAM later today.
EDit: Slower cpu and less RAM did not seem to change anything.

Depending on what you consider slower.
On my Pentium 4 2.8Ghz I suffer the described above, except windows hangs, every day [I use view source].
With the example website told above, it took to my system about~4-5 ±11 seconds to display the source code.
OH, I forgot, with 75.0.

Just tried it with KM's native source viewer (I'm assuming that's what you use). It took roughly 6 seconds to load the source code, and no windows stopped responding.
On the other hand, the source loads much faster -- less than a second -- when I assign an external plain-text editor (AkelPad) to that function, instead. That's what I usually do.

I assume that it's hardware related. With my quadcore CPU it takes 1+ second to view the source (KM75, KM76RC).
Firefox needs the same amount of time. External or internal viewer, it makes here no difference.
Opera Presto fetches the source faster (instantly).
