Is there a way to save my bookmarks in case of a crash?
If You ask in advance. If K-Meleon's writing a backup is not enough. You can also copy the file by hand to a save place once in a while.
Name: Bookmarks.html. Location: in used profile.
There are also tools that create profile backups every day. K-Meleon Extension pages... The should still work. With 74 You can probabaly also use Firefox Extensions that do it.
In case it already crashed?
Yes. K-Meleon automatically creates a backup file every few days called:
bookmarks_backup.html, rename it to bookmarks.html.
But renaming is not often needed. Lets go to the more common fault.
In case You cannot find Your bookmarks.html after a crash with a scandisk run?
No they are almost never destroyed but merely lost.
The scandisk run usually does eat ./profiles/profiles.ini not bookmarks.html.
That profiles.ini points the browser to the used profile with the bookmarks.html, bookmarks_backup.html, passwords and so on.
To find the folder and the files. Go menu item Configuration -> Profile Directory.
Move up 1 level. Now You should see the old profile (or serveral other profiles?) also and the profiles.ini. Enter the profiles You find and open the bookmarks.html with a browser. When You have found it there are 2 ways to fix the problem. You can either edit profiles.ini to point to the right profile or You can copy the right profiles folders files into currently used profile folder. Cave that overwrites the new folders data. Make backups before You overwrite things.
