I found yesterday the Brave Browser, and it surprised me a lot. It's like Kmeleon deserves to be, with some good marketing work within and a good development team behind. However, although it offers increased speed and secure navigation, Kmeleon is by now a very lightweight portable jewel for me. Anyway, IMHO Brave development team is building an amazing bridge towards something really good with some good ideas, including for any future Kmeleon releases if we are lucky. Brave works in W7, OSX and Linux too. :O

Mmmmm, ads based on your browsing behaviour, anonymized or not, is not cool.

By the way, in what way is Brave related to this topic?

if only there was a way to make this Youtube No Buffer addon for Firefox to work correctly under K-meleon:
https://add0n.com/no-buffer.html

I use this addon to prevent youtube videos from autoplaying; I got v0.1.7 of the addon to work with Firefox 52 ESR and sort of "modded it" to work with Seamonkey 2.48. so far, it doesn't work yet on K-meleon

Wondering if there's some workaround possible with manual pref toggling, similar to the cookie-blocking-button in the privacy bar. For toggling that button only manually on/off when needed.
Perhaps "permissions.default.media"? (INT 1/2/3)
Or "media.mp4.enabled"? (BOOL true/false)
Or using the "addperm" command to toggle "media" on youtube only? (KM75.0 macrolanguage)

What are you talking about? Everybody is talking about browsers, including The World and Slimbrowser and you are getting annoying by my contribution? What kind of spam could be to say that I hope someday Kmeleon has a better development? Also I said that I STILL PREFERS KMELEON. Please read better before post. Thanks. smiling smiley

- Look the other people's work, we can get some ideas from them and their work.
- Spam, spam, spam!!!!!!

"Kmeleon is by now a very lightweight portable jewel for me." -- J.G.

If you have read all my posts, probably you will understand how much I love this browser. Anyway, it sounds really hilarious that you are concern about a 'false positive spam' instead being concern about so many other important things: no one needs to post spam here considering that there is a 734 days dead point from latest stable release. Anyway, I will think that you were doing some kind of ironic joke to me, so I appreciate your sense of humour and I apologize for any inconvenience to the forum too. Thanks. smiling smiley

The problem comes when those talking about other browsers follow the thread topic. You came in that post kind of recommending Brave... for no reason beyond talk about Brave.

I didn't blame you of spam, just saying, what have to do that post here. It wasn't contributing to the thread with any useful information.

There was no need to register, but hey, welcome.

END OF OFFTOPIC HERE, PLEASE

Possible solution?
https://addons.mozilla.org/es/firefox/addon/video-without-flash/

Kmeleon 76RCpro-byRodocop works with:
- HTMLVideoElement
- H.264
- WebM VP8
- Media Source Extensions
- MSE & H.264
It does not work with:
- MSE & WebM VP9
You can see it at: https://www.youtube.com/html5
* H.264 playback depends on hardware and operating system support.

They are both no real alternative.

1) They need a modern Version of IE. So you need a Windows after XP to get a IE that is not IE6.
If you have a modern Windows, any newer Firefox (42+) that is not the "eme-free" Version will work under YT.

2) They are not Open Source, so they are not thrustworthy.

I used FF 47.0.2 (i have XP32) with this Tutorial

http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/175591-enable-mp4-h264-aac-html5-video-in-firefox-on-windows-xp-without-flash/#comment-1124589

and now it works in FF, i can even download the ""Protected"" xD Streams with Flashgot.

I hate FF (it's totaly BS und ugly without Classic Theme Restorer) normaly i use 3 portable Seamonkey's and KMeleon 75, but it's the only Open Source and non google telemetrie spy, option at the moment.

I recommend smtube (open source, for windows and linux, but the debian jessie stable rep's got a very obsolete and not working version) to watch youtube.

http://www.smtube.org/

Because with smtube you can browse youtube like normal, and any video will be opened in smplayer, so you have always hardware acceleration on smiling smiley

I have a AMD Phenom x4 945, so 4 x 3ghz, and a 13 years old GeForce 6600gt and since this stupid html 5 on yt, i was always forced to run the CPU on full power.

When i watched 480p Flash, the cpu clock was always at 4 x 800mhz, and the power consumption was small, the cpu fan was not loud, and cpu usage was 30%.

With this HTML5 shit, anything without execption (even 240p) got micro lags or dropped frames, the CPU usage was even on 240p at 40%, the Core clocks jumped between 800 and 3000, the CPU fan was loud, the CPU get hot.

Even at 720p,480,360,240, the cpu usage difference was so small, that i suggest that youtube (sucks year for year more since google bought them) used just the 720p File for each resolution under 720, and that the CPU/GPU from the viewer has to downscale it to 480,360,240

Think about it, a Quad Core with 4 x 3ghz that got dropped frames or micro lags at ridicolous 360p in fullscreen.......my Single Core Pentium M 1,2 CPU in my oldest Dell Notebook from 2003, that use smtube (so Hardware Acceleration is used) for Youtube Playback runs 360p perfectly smooth (even 720p but then the cpu usage is at 90% and Clock at 1,2ghz) the CPU usage is at 30% and the clock permanently at 600mhz smiling smiley

On my Quad Core i can watch 720p 60 Frames in smtube with max 30% cpu usage and permanently 4x800mhz.

There's a custom build of Palemoon for XP with lav codec support:

http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/177125-my-build-of-new-moon-temp-name-aka-pale-moon-for-xp/

Seems to work well with sites that still support flash.

Best thing is alot of the extra garbage that's in newer Firefox versions are not in Palemoon.

Maybe this could be used as a base for a newer K-Meleon build?

When i check out http://youtube.com/html5 it's the same, both h264 are red.

But for some strange reason it work (but i have only 360p as Option...but that's ok, my screen is just 19" 5:4) even in KMeleon.

I have a older Version as SM 2.48

My OS is XP 32 SP3

I tried 2.48 last week, but it didnt work good (it was slow as fuck, like later Versions of midori and otter browser, dont know wtf they did to that 2 browsers, both were stable and fast last year, but now otter browser is very slow, and midori very unstable)

On that page they link to:

http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/175591-enable-mp4-h264-aac-html5-video-in-firefox-on-windows-xp-without-flash/

...which I haven't looked at in a while. The instructions changed since then and I can now get H264 to work in Firefox 52.

BTW, I've tried getting an account at MSFN but they never send the confirmation email.

Strangest thing though, I tried this in SeaMonkey 2.48 and it will appear in the Add-ons Manager - Plugins. But click on "Options" and it disappears !!!

First time around SeaMonkey also deleted media.gmp-eme-adobe.version, media.gmp-eme-adobe.abi & media.gmp-eme-adobe.lastUpdate !!!

Second time around, it showed up briefly, disappeared again, but this time kept the values. Youtube recognizes it and I can get something other than 360p.

Very weird.

I did notice that the html5 video player using adobe primetime won't expand videos completely in full screen mode (not mistaking this for theater mode).

It always leaves room for the title bar at the top and controls at the bottom, even if they "disappear" after inactivity. Kind of annoying as flash would always expand the videos completely.

Anybody else experiencing this?

It's a feature of HTML5.

Full screen can't go beyond the browsers viewport.

Maybe in other browsers interfaces could be tricked, but not in K-meleon, unless you switch it to full screen without any bar (status bar included), the video won't cover beyond the actual viewport.

Viewport ⇨ space where the page renders.

So far in my tests it seems older video chipsets don't expand the video to the edges with Adobe Primetime in Firefox/SeaMonkey or lavc in New Moon.

Nvidia 200-series and newer works. 1st gen Intel Core i3-i5-i7 and newer works. Haven't tried any ATI yet except...

None of the ATI 3000 (and Nvidia 9000 chipsets) I've tried expand to the edges.

Older Intel 945 & 965 don't either.

Firefox has a setting: media.hardware-video-decoding.failed

which I've noticed is set to true, setting it to false doesn't change anything.

About youtube log on and messages showing using k-meleon 75.0 and firefox 39.0 in windows 7 i have no problem at all.In XP firefox is working fine but k-meleon can not log on to youtube and load the messages.Even if i have already been logged to google account when youtube loads it can not recognize the users logged account.Looks like k-meleon in XP can not access to some youtube server that stores the information about accounts comments history like dislike and so.

P.S Still using XP in the year 2018 is not the 8th mortal sin.
