Do you mean, when you click the mail button in the toolbar, and an input window pops up?
If yes, and you want to use gmail, perhaps this works, but am not sure:

Test mailto:
nobody@example.com

But in my old KM1.6 version it either shows an error page, or still wants to open my local mail program :-/ Because this is the default suggestion in my old version:
"C:\PROGRAMS\OUTLOOK EXPRESS\MSIMN.EXE" /mail

The prob is sending mailto-links to a WEBMAIL, due to those eternal mimetypes-config-bugs, at least until 2015. No idea about current KM version??
