Ctrl key not working

Why are none of my Ctrl key shortcuts working in Kmeleon? They work from the context menu.

This could happen if you have choosed other language than default english during installation.

If you use localized KM - than install it in english and than select your language in Preferences->GUI Appearance.

But sometime even default-language KM instance could be exposed to such a glitch when Ctrl-based hotkeys do not work (they also aren't shown in menu in that cases).

If none of cases described match your one - you should open ticket on bugtracker providing precise description of the problem and all possible info about your PC config.

KM could have some unusual glitches under Win 8 and newer as well as on 64bit systems.

English is selected.
I'm using 64bit Windows 7.

Slickone

Which version of K-Meleon are you using?

The default accelerator keys are defined in the K-Meleon Root\browser\defaults\settings\accel.cfg file.

I have Win 7 (64 bit) on a laptop. I will go and start it up and verify if my accel keys are working. Yes, my keys are working. The KM on the laptop is the one Dorian posted on May 27.

The keys are listed in that file on mine.

It just says V75, but I think it was 75b3? How can I tell?

It is not easy to tell. We have had many levels of KM 75 as shown by the data from one folder that I keep on my computer.

Do you remember which file that you used to put KM on your computer? If not, then look in your KM root folder and find the file named "k-meleon.exe". Post back with the 'modified date' and exact file size and I will try to find a match. If I can find a match, then we will know the version.

If it is old, then it might be best to install the latest available code.

Just to test your keys again, please try this:
Press and hold the "Ctrl" key and press the "T" key. Unless you are running KM without tab support enabled, you should get a new tab.

Nice list, thanks smiling smiley
But such complicated investigations really shouldn't be needed, a program version should be clear from inside itself. Still think the default window title would be a good and extremely easy place:
In KM...../browser/defaults/preferences/kmeleon.js
pref("kmeleon.display.title", "K-Meleon 75RC5");
In case of development versions perhaps even with the date added.

siria

The first thing I do when I run a new KM version is go to the appearances > general tab in preferences and mimic the file name of the exe, 7z, or zip file used to create the KM into the Window Title field. I do the same thing when I install an update. That is the first thing that I do. No matter what other issue seems pressing, I always update the title first.

The second item I try to do is move the exe, 7z, or zip file from downloads folder to my z_installs folder.

Yes, the list is impressive, but I cannot take credit for that. It is an output to file from a program called Karen's Directory Printer. All that I did was to overwrite some tabs with spaces. They line up better on the forum.

My modified date is 3/27/2015, file size is 2178KB.

Thing is, the Ctrl keys sometimes work, sometimes don't. It might be they don't work on certain websites, like when playing videos on youtube, etc. Sorry I can't be more specific.

Why not? Tell us about your windows version?

About what build do you use - installable or portable? (this is KM 75 RC2 as I can see; it was published in both types)
