Sessions stuck

I'm running 76 pro.

Recently whenever I restart from a crash and select resume last session I keep getting one from about a week ago.
I've set new windows and closed with task manager to simulate crash but it still keeps going back to the old session.
Why would it be stuck on a previous session?

thanks in advance.

Check whether You still have writing privileges in the profile folder.

No other idea.

If you close a session NORMALLY - does this one replace the old one?

guenter, siria thanks for replying.

I did not hjave any sessions showing up at all.
I looked in my profile folder and saw that sessions.json was smaller than sessions.json.bak.tmp2 so I deleted the former and replaced it with a copy of the latter.
Didn't help.
I then ended up deleting both sessions.json & sessions.json.tmp2.
It seems to be working normally now (I think) but I don't have any of my old sessions anymore.

there shouldn't be sessions.json.bak.tmp2!

Only sessions.json and sessions.json.bak. It seems that browser stucks while saving sessions file and its backup.

What size of sessions.json.bak.tmp2 was there?

Hey rodocop thanks for replying.

That's exactly what happened, my entire computer froze and I had to turn off manually and re4start.
The size of sessions.json.bak.tmp2 is 45.5kb.

Do you still have the broken file? It's just a text file with the URLs inside.
And rodocop has mentioned somewhere that URLs with special characters inside (like cyrillic) can cause crashes, although, the situation in first post is strange.

That's not the case with KM 76 where it was fixed already.

And this is not the case of TOO BIG json. Just strange.

As usual I suggest to delete startupCache subfolder in profile and use pfBackup extension to have good backups of your crucial profile files.
