I tried to overwrite the program's directory but this did not work. Is there any way to update existing installation of RC1? I could not find the RC2 installer, only a portable version.
It should work flawlessly by simple overwriting all the package.
If you made skin/button changes those will be lost though when overwriting. Recommanded to make a backup copy of whole KM folder first.
Most of us here prefer parallel installations in different folders.

Just tried again, and it does not. It does not start after rewriting.
Check that it correctly overwrites. If it unzips in another folder it goes wrong.
I write this with an updated/overwritten version.

Don't know if unzipping has much to do with it, there were other start problems mentioned before, just can't remember details... perhaps that cache folder in the profile... or Windows automatics, or security tools... Guess it can't be that SSE2-prob if update is only from 76 to 76...
And of course delete the "profile.ini" file in KM root if it's not supposed to work portable...

To make a long story short - for different reasons it is not advisable to overwrite a program which you installed through an installer by unzipping a portable version over it.
Something you can do and it will work for sure:
1. Downlod the portable package of the old vesion you want to upgrade.
2. Unzip that package to a location of your choice. The only locations where you should not unzip are Windows' default program folders!
3. Don't start the portable K-Meleon until you have transferred your settings from the installed one (the one you have installed through the installer).
4. After you have done the above steps you can start your portable K-Meleon to check if everything is fine.
5. Now you can unzip the new portable (RC2) over your portable 75.1.
If the above is too complicated than make only step 2.
It will give you a fresh RC2 which you'll have to customize at your like.
BTW, even I prefer a fresh install for major version changes of a software over overwriting.

that's because there was no RC2 installer being ever made.
