Incompatibility ...

Hi!

How to manage such K-Meleon 'incompatibilities'?

Facebook Video

Facebook says, the browser should be updated, and the video doesn't work ...

Sincerely
Z.

You should always mention which K-Meleon you mean.
There is a K-Meleon based on Gecko which actually works with your link.
There is also a new K-Meleon in development based on Goanna which doesn't work for me either with your link. Even overriding the UserAgent didn't help.

I am using KM 76 portable from this site.
I tried with user agent Default and Custom 'Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:40.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/40.1'.

If you mean this site, then I'd recommend to download K-Meleon 76 RC2 (2016-12-20).
It's the last K-Meleon based on Gecko and the one I've tested with your link. It plays the vid with the default UserAgent.

Had no problem with that video under Goanna-KM

Strange.
Instead of playing the vid I'm asked to Get Flash Player.

Perhaps because rodocop has the separate LAV-codecs installed, Yogi not?

But more likely this?

With KM-Goanna the site asks for Flash Player.
With other browsers video plays fine (HTML5) without any flash plugin.

Is this intended?

facebook uses features heavily depending on browsers' user agent string.
palemoon people are mad on changing user agent override because of this.

for forcing facebook using html5 video player, add this in about:config
general.useragent.override.facebook.com = Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:99.9) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/99.9 (Pale Moon)

...and same for: fbcdn.net

Well I have no problem with video in both Go-Meleons: 3.4.1-based with LAVs and 3.4.2-based without ones.

Added LAV Filters and it works now for me too! (? I'm on Win7 ?)

No need for site specific UserAgent override.
Works also with the usual UserAgent override as we have always done. smiling smiley

BTW, I tested with K-Meleon 76 - Goanna 3.4.2 (Build 20180106)

Hm. I downloaded KM76RC2, unpacked it and tested the Facebook Video link (with no changes on KM), but it doesn't play the video ...

K-Meleon 76 - Goanna 3.4.2 (Build 20180106)

Where this KM version can be downloaded?

(I am concerned that in the future there will be more and more sites where KM doesn't work, or needs specific adaptations for each site. Even in the present I am forced to switch to a specific user agent for a specific https site, and then to another user agent for another site ... This could make the use of KM too uncomfortable, at least for average users.)

@zvonko
The future KM77 (KM-Goanna) test builds are found here:
http://kmeleonbrowser.org/forum/read.php?19,143253

You also most likely need to download the LAV-plugin "alternative2", or if that doesn't work, try "alternative3", Description for LAV is in the VIDEO-AUDIO thread.

There's a whole subforum for KM77-Goanna:
http://kmeleonbrowser.org/forum/list.php?19

If you need to toggle the useragent for frequently used sites often, you can simply set a site exception for those, for KM to toggle there automatically.

I tested once again with K-Meleon 76 RC2 (2016-12-20) on Win7. It plays the vid fine with the default settings.
Anybody with Win7 or above can check with a fresh install.

BTW, what's your OS? It wouldn't hurt to mention it when asking for help.

Generally most sites support Firefox.
Thus, an UserAgent with a more recent Firefox should be fine for most sites.
Can you give examples(links) where such an UserAgent doesn't work and you have to spoof another browser?
