Block Google cookie nag & Youtube sign in nag?
Date: September 13, 2020 03:22AM
Started getting these a couple of days ago unless I disable
js. Anyone else experience this?
Happens every time I open google even altho' it already has a session cookie.

Nop.

it already has a session cookie
That might be the problem. Don't allow cookies for Google, except for the account area, and just for session. Unless you are permanently logged.
Google doesn't need session cookies to work.

Thanks for suggestion.
EDIT
Tested with chrome - if I delete cookie I get the nag, if I
agree to their popup then I don't get the nag.
With K-m I get the nag even after agreeing - I don't see that
I've blocked google's cookie in k-m
Hmmm!
Happens with google co Rogue-Republic but not google com
That makes it awkward for local stuff unless I toggle
js off - but then without js custom date search doesn't appear
"Before you continue

If you agree, we’ll personalise the content and ads that you see, based on your activity on Google services like Search, Maps and YouTube. We also have partners that measure how our services are used. Click 'See more' to review your options, or visit g.co/privacytools at any time."
See More -------- I agree"
To change the options (see more) you need to sign in, I never sign into google I don't have/want an account

In the same session?
I think you didn't understood me. If you BLOCK cookies, Google won't present you the nag screen as it can't set a cookie. If you ALLOW, even session cookies, it will nag every time.
I just tested (
how disgusting to accept their cookies!) and it works as I just mentioned. I'm telling you to BLOCK the domain www.google.com and maybe consent.google.com for cookies (cookies permissions dialog). Maybe another one, but, to be fair, I don't accept cookies for any google domain, except session when strictly necessary, for example with accounts.google.com with session cookie permission.
Long story short, block cookies coming from google and you won't see their nag screen.

O'K fine now - thanks.
I must have blocked the wrong one
So I blocked the lot:
google.co.uk
www.google.co.uk
.google.co.uk
consent.google.co.uk
Still wondering why this suddenly began happening on .co.uk but not .com, I didn't change any cookie settings recently?
EDIT - fixed list

Those aren't valid domains..., starting that rogue-republic isn't a real TLD.
Anyway, if you managed to block it, fine
And why started, because all sites are now requesting explicit and detailed consent agreement.
Why on co and not com... as I said, starting from that rogue-republic isn't a real TLD... I don't know, without being at your PC to see what is going on.

Oops! glitch. I corrected the block list to how it was in k-m

it's good that we solved the problem. useful topic

Yes, it solved the google search issue which was a relief.
So I blocked the cookies youtube loads and the "sign in" nag still pops up.
I double-checked after and no cookies had loaded.

Sign-in?
:-?
I'm only requested for it when I want to check something in the account.
I don't remember the last time it happened.

It only began recently here.
With Chromium also - I tried blocking it with ublock origin chrome extension but it only blocks the content of the pop-up
not the pop-up itself which leaves a large white empty box
I copied this info from ublock

What ublock might be doing is the same you can do through adblock.css or usercontent.css.
If you don't have an account just blocks cookies for the whole YouTube. I have my consent cookie, so I might already accepted it in the past and to be fair, I don't wont to fiddle with it now
I think I can't help, sorry.

No worries - thanks.
I'll have a read around google.

Oh, I see.
I've never seen the second screenshot referenced in the url in the post of msfn:
https://www.ghacks.net/2020/09/27/how-to-deal-with-googles-and-youtubes-aggressive-popups-before-you-continue-sign-in/
I must admit that I'm already signed-in and when I'm not, I log-in to check my account, so if it ever was shown that, I literally don't remember. And now, with K-meleon 75.0, I'm not as there is not reason to be in when the site is not compatible anymore with this version. If I'm, I don't know as it isn't displayed XD

Thanks a lot siria that ghacks link solves it for chromium with ublock - how to achieve the same in k-m?
I used the second solution
youtube.com##ytd-popup-container
youtube.com##ytd-consent-bump-lightbox.style-scope
www.youtube.com##.opened

no clue, just a blind guess...
Test this in ..currentprofile/chrome/
adblock.css or in
userContent.css
@-moz-document domain(youtube.com){
ytd-popup-container ,
ytd-consent-bump-lightbox.style-scope ,
.opened
{
display: none !important;
}
}
If adblock.css, it must be toggled on/off to refresh rules
If userContent.css, the browser must be restarted to refresh rules

Guessing as well, those ytd might be the elements ids so with a hash sign:
@-moz-document domain(youtube.com){
#ytd-popup-container ,
#ytd-consent-bump-lightbox.style-scope ,
.opened
{
display: none !important;
}
}

Yep of course that would have been my first "natural" guess too, but dimly remember those double-## seem to serve as marker for the hiding-rules in ABP... And remembered having seen in youtube html source such fantasy elements, like this:
<ytd-masthead...

You are right
There exists one, so might exists them as elements
I'm not familiar with AB/ublock/whatever rules

I like your blind guess
It worked !!!
I entered it into usercontent.css

Works better than ublock with chromium where...
"there is a downside to using these as all videos will pause a moment after they have started. You can hit the play button to start playback anew though and watch the videos like you normally do"
No pause with K-m

(Just wondering, those rules are for youtube, not google?
The topic header should be adjusted)

Cool! Thanks for confirmation
So, for translation of ABP-type-rules into ordinary css for KM, we may remember that "##" is only a marker string for css-rules, and behind it follows a normal CSS selector string.
(and if I remember right, rules without ## can be tested unmodified in "profile/adblock.
txt"... with an older header version...)

I edited the title query.
Didn't know I could do that here - I'm mainly used to vbulletin software, where only mods can edit thread titles
