Disable Tooltips

Is there a way to disable tooltips in both the toolbar and on websites?
I have tried toggling browser.chrome.toolbar_tips in config but it has no effect.

For WEBSITES:
Just stumbled across this interesting page:
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Preferences/Preference_reference
pref ui.tooltipDelay (INT)
"The delay in milliseconds between the mouse stopping over an element and the appearing of its tooltip"
That pref works since Firefox 11 (=since KM74). The default value is "500", half a second.

Have only done a short test in KG74 so far, using value 3000, but it seems to work! smiling smiley
Tested on about:addons and on a google search page, the google logo top left shows a tooltip.
HowTo: open URL about:config (or Edit > Configuration > Browser Configuration), click OK and look if that pref is already there.
If not, right-click and create a new "INT" pref, name is "ui.tooltipDelay"
Set the value to a long delay, for example 8000 if 8 seconds delay is long enough.
=> Can anyone confirm if that still works in modern KM-versions too? And is the pref already contained?

For TOOLBAR-Buttons:
Not sure if there's a working tooltip-pref for KM buttons, for timing etc. Doubt it.
The toolbars depend much on the global settings of the Windows system. Perhaps there's also OS setting for tooltips, like this?
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-desktop/how-to-disable-windows-7-tooltips-popups-on/2638667d-de8e-4a2f-9bf7-22853a45818f

Otherwise, in K-Meleon itself you can edit toolbars.cfg and manually comment out the tooltip lines, on every single button.
That's some work, but if you wanna try it, first make a backup copy of the original file.
And then a backup of your edited file too, or it will get overwritten and lost at the next KM-update.
Or better:
for fiddling with skins and toolbars config the best way is to create your own customized skin folder.
Very simple: Just make a copy of the folder skins/Default - or whichever skin you're currently using - and name it as you like.
If that folder contains no own "toolbars.cfg" yet, copy the default file into it. Then edit this copy.
That way your edits can't be accidentally overwritten anymore, and no danger to mess the original skin either.
Then you can choose your own new skin in F2>GUI and restart.

Note that this will not affect ALL buttons, only most. There are also a few macro-created buttons, those are not contained in toolbars.cfg.

Important:
If anyone disables button tooltips in K-Meleon, try to remember this:
Most KM-buttons have a hidden, but very handy right-click menu for more options.
For checking, just right-click on all buttons and see if a menu pops up.
For example the Home button, or Go-button, etc.
