It depends on the money you can spend on antivirus software. At my estimation Norton Antivirus 2002 is the best all around AV program currently available. It has superior software support, constant updates /one year subscription though/ and state-of-the-art AV technology. McAfee VirusScan 6.01 is fine too, though its interface is not so intuitive and advanced like its biggest competitor. it also incorporates exelent AV engine and its updates are free for life. It has better instruments for defending you online.
It is the worth to give a try to Kashpersky Antivirus www.avp.ru: a Russian program that seems to be very good. It has dayly AV updates, which differs from the big-ones policy of onew-or-two week cumulative updates.

Those wishing to look at various types of antivirus software (and trojan scanners and firewalls) should look at:

http://www.wilders.org

where independant tests are performed on a wide range of programs.

There is no doubt which is the best AV program around in my opinion: NOD32.

It has real time scanning for emails, signature scanning and heuristic scanning and is blisteringly fast. You can get a trial version from http://www.nod32.com and the support forum is at the Becky Users Forums at:
