hi guys

I just cannot get the Windows Media Player plugin to work with K-Meleon. I installed the plugin files in C:\Program Files\K-Meleon\plugins\ as stated on the http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/docs/pluginfiles.php
the Windows Media plugins show up in "about:plugins" but when I go to a website loadup the video/audio window which WMP is embeded in, I only see a blank window and the plugin never loads up. Anyone had any success with this plugin?? Please post on here or email me, I badly need this feature

Here is a copy of what I see when I type about:plugins

Which version of Windows and Media Player are you using? Does Media Player work independently? Is MP tied to those file types in Windows general settings?

However, if you are going to the Internet via proxy (e.g. LAN), you should adjust Media Player options correspondingly (View - Options - Advanced). If you are using a firewall, you should check that the firewall does not block Media Player streams.

If everything else is OK, the first idea I have is to reinstall Media Player, as the plugin definitely works in K-Meleon (I am using Win98SE and Media Player 6.01.

Are you connecting through LAN (i.e. are you using a proxy) and are you using any firewalls?

I also noted that the text for the file npwmsdrm.dll is a bit different than on my computer. It may be, by some unexplained twist, that you have got another version of the plugin. If the proxies and firewalls (if any) are OK, you could send me an e-mail and I can send you a link where I got my plugin from - it was not the Microsoft site. (My e-mail address is aule/at/tfz.net - replace /at/ with the @ sign). Then you might consider reinstalling the plugin...

I'm assuming that you've downloaded and run the cab installer for WMP. You should have found the following files, probably in the (C:\program files\Windows Media Player) folder:

npds.zip, npdrmv2.zip, npdrmv2.dll, npwmsdrm.dll,npdsplay.dll

Move these files into the K-M plugins folder and restart your system.

http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/docs/pluginfiles.php#wmedia
The K-M WMP page.

You can also download NS plugins from the MS WMP site.
