How to Create Pocket K-Meleon from 1.5a Build 21:
Note: these steps might change with future releases, specifically as they pertain to the preferences features of 1.5a
- Download K-M: 1.5a, 1.5a_update2, and 1.5a_build21
- Create folder: Pocket K-Meleon (I suggest on the desktop, not yet in the USB stick)
- Unpack the following into folder Pocket K-Meleon
..- do this in the order as shown
..- over-write existing files
..- unpack: 1.5a
..- unpack: 1.5a_update2
Da..- unpack: 1.5a_build21
- needed files from the current pocket program version:
..- kprofile.dll (found in the components folder)
..- profile.ini (found in the main folder)
..- note: current pocket version of k-meleon 1.1.2 is available at:
Jujuland (I notice that Douglas' site appears to be down.)
- add these two files (above) to the new Pocket K-Meleon folder you are creating:
..- place kprofile.dll in the components folder
..- rename profile.dll in the components folder to profile.dlk
..- place profile.ini in the main folder
....[note: profile.ini defines relative path=profiles]
- remove from the Pocket K-Meleon folder:
..- launcher.exe
..- default.exe
- The following two compression steps are optional depending on the capacity of your USB stick:
..- use UPX to compress all *.dll & *.exe files
..- use zip archive to compress all jar files; change the .zip suffix to .jar
- Start-up K-Meleon:
..- edit preferences (F2):
....- de-select / set length of history to zero
....- set "keep cookies" to "until end of session"
....- create Master Password
..- set Tools >Privacy > Clear Automatically options
..- type about:config in the url bar, hit enter, read warning, hit enter
....- set browser.cache.disk.capacity to: 0
......- [note: the number zero]
....- set kmeleon.display.title to: Pocket K-Meleon
....- verify browser.chrome.favicons :: false
This should be it. Others much wiser than I will let us know if anything else needs to be done.
Place the folder Pocket K-Meleon in your USB Stick and you are good to go.
You can now adjust the skins, change the search engines, add macros and extensions, etc., etc., to your liking.
Cheers!
