did L.J.M. say 'ages ago' above? Now, I wonder when that was. Just teasing :-)

Just turned 36yrs old, but I don't feel a day over 35. ;-)
Actually I must say that it's interesting the diversity of ages represented here, and it look's like the popularity of K-Meleon is spread over a wide demographic.
Maybe what would also be interesting to find out is the average "years" of computer use/experience from everybody. Maybe that should be a topic for a new thread perhaps.

Ah, I'll look around for that one soon. Come to think about it as I haven't had my K-Meleon cap on for a while I've probably missed a few good threads.
Also greetings and all that to you too Guenter, hope the weather's treating you kindly in downtown Hannover today.

Greetings fellow Kmeleonheads!
I am a 55 year old small dairy farmer from central Minnesota. Kmeleon is running on three computers here at home along with the Opera & Firefox series. Kmeleon is set as default on two with Firefox commanding the last spot. While the browser is a fine piece of work and it's configurable nature makes it a delight, the highlight of the project is the folks here at the forum. There simply is no other forum that I have found that is more informative, helpful, courteous, intelligent, etc.! I enjoy threads like this as it gives you a sense of the people behind the posts. Where else can you get advice on how to fix your problems when you experiment a little to much, or have various people build or modify creations just for you and get to see wedding photos of Hao's bueatiful bride ?

OK, Boys and (remarkably few) Girls, I've done do'd it, and here's the deal. (I did it more carefully this time.)
The MEAN AGE of the 67 people represented in this thread so far is very definitely a solid age 46 to 55. No other age group comes close.
In fact, I broke it down into 5-year age ranges, and there were really 2 groups, aged 46 to 50 and aged 51 to 55, which tied. So that 10-year span is very solid.
If you are a typical K-Meleon user (of the sort who responded here) you are:
-- Age 46 to 55
-- Male
-- American
-- extremely intelligent and very good looking
There are two other groups that are well represented:
ages 11 to 25, with most people being toward 25
and
ages 31 to 40, with most people being toward 40
However, they don't come close to the age 46 to 55 group.
(Nope. I'm not biased. I'm one of only two people in the lonely age 56 to 60 group!)
As far as I could determine, the age range of K-Meleon users is from about eleven years old to 88.
Quite a few people mentioned their country of residence. Americans represent just over one-third of the total of the 17 locations mentioned, and no other country even enters the contest. The UK gets 12 % when Scotland and England are combined.
Here are the locations people mentioned outside the US. Every one of them was represented from just 2 to 8 % of those who mentioned countries. (Here, I've split England and Scotland. Didn't make much difference.)
Australia
Brazil
Canada
China
England
France
Germany
Ghana
India
Italy
Netherlands
Philippines
Poland
Scotland
Singapore
Switzerland
Not every reply was very explicit, but my best interpretation shows an age range from eleven to 88.
Thanks for making this thread a lot of fun, everyone.
Um--regarding all that data, did I slip up anywhere? Well <kicks stone> in just ONE place, maybe. Okay, I confess. You noticed it, and I didn't get away with it . . . . yeah, "Brazil" is spelled "Brasil" by those who live there.
;-)

Carson,
As the other member of the 56 to 60 group
I am familiar with brain-rot...I believe it is
less dangerous than a little knowledge...
Fortunately...I have forgotten what else I
was going to say...

Ha ha! Now I feel much more secure. It is good to get support from this extinguished age group. Um, I mean dystinguished. Um, I think I mean that. Definitely there is something quite important there that I was saying, or at least I think there is, or was.

@TOMr, there were 7 locations with only one single inhabitant making his presence known here:
Australia
France
Ghana
India
Italy
Philippines
Singapore
Countries with 2 K-Meleon users responding:
Brazil
China
England
Poland
Switzerland
Countries with 3 responding:
Canada
Netherlands
Countries with 4:
Germany
Scotland
(I often separate England and Scotland. The Scots I meet in Canada seem to prefer it that way. Something about people not taking well to regime change.) ;-)

I should add that not everyone responded on his own. In some cases I was able to include other family members because their ages were given.
-- And then there are the interesting questions: These are the people who
(1) chose to respond; and who
(2) enjoy writing things in the forum.
But what about K-Meleon users who are in neither (1) nor (2)? We've had estimates of some 80,000 people using K-Meleon. Here in the forums, it feels more like, say, 500, with a vast majority of males. For all we know, there are thousands of users who are female and who don't write in the forum. Could be the women outnumber the men.
I doubt it, because I like to go by what I can actually see. But it could be. :-)

Oh. One last statistic.
Apparently K-Meleon doesn't work on continents beginning with the letter A.
One person only in Africa.
One person only in Australia.
And nobody at all in Antarctica.
(Well, I had a few penguins respond from Antarctica, but this is for people. Dumb penguins. Should have known better. Birds don't have much intelligence.)

I use K-M on Win ME (Very stripped down) IE is not installed as updates on 98 & ME are not needed following the stopping of MSD support. Service packs are available on the Net for re-installs etc.
I also use Opera, still not sure about it. K-M is the default.
I'm located in North Kent, in the UK, 62 years old and have been using computers since 1964 (Mainframes & punched tape in those days).
I have a fairly old PC, 500Mhz AMD K6-2, 384 Mb of RAM & a 80Gb HDD. ME and K-Meleon really fly on this setup. If and when I get a new PC I may take the plunge and move to Win 2000.

I don't come here much anymore; just had a question to ask today. Then I saw this, and I was suprised. I got a double surprise, because I noticed all of us guys in our early 60s here.

@Steve, I liked Windows ME too. If you ever do feel like wasting some money on your system, I discovered a real difference could be made by 3 things: RAM and a good video card, plus a DVD burner. About 1 gig of RAM, if your system will hold it. I had no idea that the video card [also called a graphics card] was so important. It's sort of a computer inside your computer. And I'm not talking about games—I don't play any computer games. Anyway, the two have a profound effect. In Canada they would cost about $100 each. The DVD burner ($50-$60 here) lets you do anything imaginable with data, and is just one heck of a lot of fun.
K-Meleon then works so fast that you get to see tomorrow's posts before the guys have posted them.
